With all the millions of iOS 6 installs it's inevitable that there would be a few people would have a problem, you just happen to be the unlucky one, I installed iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and didn't have a single problem.

Follow these steps https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 that should fix it.

The update shows as a 1 notification on your settings icon when a new update is available.

I upgraded our ipad2 and my wife's iPhone 4 without any problems using the 'over the air' system. Far better than the days of plugging it into iTunes

Dont worry about IOS6 not having googlemaps as they are shortly providing a download for it on app store!

I have upgraded 4 devices since last wednesday with no issue at all.

Mind you, I did not get an invite

It was well advertised that iOS6 is coming and all you do is you hook up the phone to Itunes and click 1 single button after you have backed up your data. It could not be easier imho.

If the Thread Opener received "an invite" I would be curious to know how that invite looked like and where is came from...

An update can hardly "destroy" your phone....
