  • Morning ladies.
Hope everyone survived the horrendous weather yesterday
Sadly H was driving through the thick of it in Somerset but made it home safe. It's been a struggle to get to work for him as roads closed etc. bad winds have damaged trees near me and a canopy on the kids school. I believe there is more to come the weekend so hope everyone stays safe.

Second fast day today. Having carpet fitted and taking dog to vets. Need to fit in some cleaning and I must do some yoga, back is aching terrible lately :(
Will sit and trim my nails later and paint hands and feet :) I have a lovely green glitter one I want to try :D

Curly top welcome to the thread. Sorry you're struggling with the pain xxx please keep posting, it's nice to have lurkers come and join in :)

Pod oooh first sale  here's to that being the first of many :D

EH hope the car dried out and started for you.

LL I haven't watched the Sarah Beaney show but I am of the opinion that this is a family home. I cannot totally eradicate toys. I have decluttered and it WILL be tidy for viewings but am afraid there is a trofast unit and a toy box and a few bits and pieces around.

Bratz I am probably not considered a pagan although I feel more aligned with that area of faith. I've never celebrated Yule before but fancied cooking a really nice meal on 21st as a mini celebration in a way, sort of a nod to my pagan leanings and the fact that its midwinter. How do you normally celebrate it?
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife :D Louise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.
Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars
  • PP- oohh so pleased for you v. exciting.

Did anyone watch questiontime last night? Felt it was a wasted opportunity to discuss the changes being made to the welfare state. How dare IDS be so dismissive the bedroom tax will not only affect the unemployed but also those on low wages so how is that helping them and changing their lives for the better? Proud he should be hanging his head in shame. For anyone interested there is a facebook page campaigning against this tax please write to anyone you can think of and lets fight to get this stopped. https://www.facebook.com/groups/antibedroomtax

    Hi all,

Curlytop - welcome! yay for coming out of lurkdom :jI promise we don't bit lol! I think it can be so easy to stop making as much of an effort when we get 'settled down' - I know I've been quite guilty of this - but you need to think that's it not for anyone else, to give ourselves a boost and make us feel happier and more confident in the way we look, and it's amazing how much it can affect other areas of your life.

Bitsy - glad your hubby was ok, it wasn't horrendous up here, not very nice - rainy and windy - but think we're getting off fairly lightly compared to other parts of the country and it's mostly cleared up today, even a bit of sunshine! Fingers crossed it will the first of many sales - it's such a weird feeling to think of other people sitting down to read something you've written. I think the meal on the 21st sounds a really good idea, since I'm visiting family and won't see OH for actual xmas it might be a plan to have a mini celebration beforehand. Will have a think :)

Lizzie - I didn't catch it but agree that the bedroom tax is ridiculous. I could slightly understand the reasoning on people moving into homes that have spare rooms while on benefits but as it stands it's awful that people may have to leave homes they have lived in half their lives as they simply won't be able to afford them.

Think am definately getting a cold, am stuffed up, nose is streaming etc. Not feeling very fab at all :o Need to get on with the writing tonight but will do it in bed with the heating on and after taking my vitamins - hopefully will help a bit! Had a meeting with a couple about a possible wedding job last night, it seemed to go ok, they were really nice and we were chatting for a while so will have to see if they come back to me to confirm. Will be glad when it's hometime today, finding work a bit of a struggle - ah well, will muddle through I guess.
hope everyone is having a good day x

Happy Friday everyone! At last its the weekend!:j

Pod - how fab! A proper published author - get you!:)
    Hello Curly! Stick with us!

The weather was bad yesterday but its much better today and even managed an hour long walk with the woofer without getting wet today. Makes a change.

Off on the spa weekend tomorrow with 25 other women - should be bedlam! Have a few treatments booked and there's wine, food and an overnight stay involved so should be a good do.
Having a quiet night doing the boring things like cleaning and washing as I'll be busy on the weekend.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
    xx

Curlytop - welcome we are a friendly supportive bunch, you feel like they are your real friends without ever meeting each other. Maybe one day we should all have a get together!

Bitsy the car started but still juddered so rode bike to work, legs ache now.

A quiet weekend planned, need to clean, sort wardrobe & actually put stuff in charity bag. Finish a few pieces of knitting & generally chill.

    Good Evening All

Hope you are all well and not suffering with the storms and floods. Had a horrendous journey home last night from the nursing home, practically aquaplaned most of the way - luckily my engine didn't cut out.

Feeling a bit worse for wear today. Had a nasty tummy upset during the night - combination of tiredness and too many carbs. So the agenda this weekend is plenty of rest and no wheat.

Went to view a couple of houses to rent, needless to say the one I really liked cost the most. Of course. I will have a look at a couple more before I make a final decision.

Welcome Curly. Nice to "meet" another newbie.:D

WW - have a lovely weekend.

Currently watching some property !!!!!!, going to give myself a manicure and take it easy.

    Have a great weekend. X

I'm planning a super easy weekend as I feel worn out, tired and run down so I think a weekend on the sofa for me watching sport and tv and a film. Did fab some of the house up this afternoon and took the dog on a long walk which wore me out. Only a bit of cleaning left to do over the next 2 days - not much so shouldn't be a problem getting this done.

Lovely cauliflower curry for tea tonight and a toffee cream meringue and now a bit of choccy and hot choccy

Planning an easy soap recipe tomorrow too as have everything ready to go and I'll see how that goes and hopefully make it into some presents and some for me too!

Then its time to make sure the presents lists are up to date ready for the final present buying weekend next week and then feed the cakes and have a think about some foody items to make too which always goes down a treat with family and friends, and, of course always some for me too!

Evening all. Found more toiletries to pamper with during decluttering. One is a Bliss Oxygen face mask. It came as part of a gift set. So it'll be good to use that up.

I think a chilled weekend sounds like a good plan :)
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

  • Morning all!

I haven't been on for a few days (too busy lurking on the Grabbit board trying to keep up with crazy deals - still haven't bought anything though!)

Hewie - *big bear hug* I am glad your friends are looking after you and it looks like you've been given some good advice on here also.

bratz - I'm an atheist but have always wished I were a pagan! Lol. I love the emphasis on nature.

Pod- OMG check you out!! :j:j:j That's amazing. Congratulations on all your hard work paying off. Good luck with finishing nano! You can definitely do this!!

As for me, I've been super busy and everything will just get more hectic going into December. I had afternoon tea with my mum this week, which was fabulous, darling! Lots of parties coming up too, so I'm going to have to get creative with my wardrobe/outfits.

My weight had been STS or going up a little over the last few weeks, so I'm happy to have lost a pound and be heading back in the right direction. Overall I've lost 10 pounds since I started the Paul McKenna way of eating, and I want to lose 4 more by the Winter Solstice if I can. I'm not in any rush to lose weight, as I am more interested in developing good eating habits and thinking about the long-term. Just got to stick with it.

    Plan for the weekend:
    1.) Tidy the house!!!
2.) Fab myself up (I look like a right old scruff today)
    3.) Start my Christmas shopping
    4.) Do a bit of sewing :D

    Happy Saturday xx
Not buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the warm welcome. Podperson, never a truer word spoken. I know if I pay the time to myself I'll feel tons better. How's your sniffles coming on?

Everhopeful, good for you getting on the bike. Most people would have said no in the cold weather. Have your legs returned to normal?

Lessonlearned - you are such an inspiration and you always make me smile with your posts. Best of luck with house renting.

Cherryprint - congrats on the weight loss.

Yesterday was a lazy day (still feeling stiff). Had a defuzzing session last night and this time 'remembered' to slather body cream on myself. Done this for a few nights this week and can start to notice a difference already. Used the opportunity when drying myself to push back my cuticles and my nails are starting to look a bit decent. Just need to pop some clear varnish on them till they regrow.

Today sees another day of not doing much. DH has had to go into work so may just find one of those christmas films to watch seeing as its Jack Frost weather outside.

    Have a lovely day everyone.
I got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.
