    If your'e looking for something cheap then take a look at this;

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1991-FIAT-UNO-60-S-WHITE-/221128294875?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item337c4601db#ht_720wt_1344

My son has just bought one off ebay and it's mint for the money. I was very pleasantly surprised.

  • Oh my, They used to rust away almost as quickly as the warranty expired.

I doubt you will find many mint ones of those.

Might be interesting when you buy service parts. Goto a dealer you maybe met with year we can have them in stock by 4. 4pm thats great.
He giggles no sir 4 weeks.

Used to take them several days to get stuff for the old FIATs. This was 20 years ago though.

Without going to view, test drive and check over the engine etc then no-one is going to know if its a good buy.

    Good bye!

On a serious note, all the Ignis's around that year on the 'bay seem to be round the £1000 or less mark. Never driven one tho.

cheers, will try to arrange to go and see it,i don't know much about cars and don't really know someone who does.

what are the most important things to look out for when buying a second hand car?
  • On a car of that age/price then:

Make sure you meet the seller that their home address and check the V5 log book that the address matches.
Take it for a loooooong test drive with the radio off.
Try and go over some speed bumps so you can listen out for knocking from the suspension/bushes etc.
Look at tyres, exhaust, underneath for rust, take a torch.
Look all round the engine for leaks and underneath and where the car is normally parked.
Check oil filler cap for brown gunk, coolant colour, it should be red or blue, dip your finger in there (when its cold) if its rusty colour then expect to flush it out and replace with new, if it has little metal flakes then walk away.
Don't be put off if it has little service history but look through if it has.
Take a note of the MOT number and check online for all previous mot's and double check mileage on each one.
I wouldn't waste money on a HPI check but you can if you want. It wouldn't put me off if it is a CAT C or D due to value.
Get a receipt if you buy and state on there that there they has been no loans taken out against the car and get the guy to sign it.

If it looks like there are any faults with the suspension, brakes, engine then walk away as there's lots to choose from.

At this price though it will be a gamble so expect to pay for oil/coolant/filter/plugs/leads if no recent service history. At this mileage the cambelt, if it has one, will need to be replaced along with the water pump. If not then budget for this.

Do some research on the net before you go but take someone who knows a little about cars. Always good to take a body with you when looking at private sale cars.

    Good luck !!!

    looks very reasonable
seats are rubbish they make your bum go numb after 30 minutes
trim is very nasty plastic inside and bits might fall off
    engines good
    gearboxes bit weak
    underneath they rot
    things like exhausts dear
dont like the plate not surprised it goes with car
if its local view get them to give you a good drive make sure lectric steering works perfectly with no pulling to left on startup etc and go from there
got to be better than a scrap ka or fiasco

My niece has a Suzuki Ignis, she knows nothing about cars and needed an automatic because that's all she could drive. My Brother saw the Ignis at the side of the road for sale, had a good look over it and a test drive, it was a genuine family owned private sale.
My niece was working in Spain at the time so they bought it for her.....she absolutely loves it and she's had it about two years now :)
