Girl Guides membership - our daughter cannot join?

Tell them she worships Chuck Norris
On a more serious note how old is your daughter? I tried the Guides and I hated it I was christened but after losing my dad at 5 and things that happened after that I have no faith left but I don't remember them asking me.
I joined the ATC (air training corps) at 13 (its meant to be 13 & 3 months) but I hounded them about joining until they let me I just couldn't do a lot of the activities not that I cared. I continued up until 17 when life got in the way & I loved every minute of it and religion was never an issue
Funny just seen the comments above mine and I'm just about to go back and help my old squadron I can't wait I have missed the cadets so much it was such a huge part of my life and helped turn me into the outgoing person I am nowFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Are you sure?
I was the first girl in my scout pack (well, me and the leader's daughter). We asked, they said ok, then we had to wait to actually start until they could find a woman willing to be a leader. Pretty much the opposite of your experience.0 -

100% certain... it is even published somewhere.
They were initially given a choice...all of the packs...whether they wanted to stay single sexed or mixed. Once they went mixed they weren't allowed to go back to boys only.
I was also the first girl in both of the Beaver units I went to...
Lastest Census shows 400,000 in scouting and 583,000 in guiding.... considering scouting is 'mixed' i'd say it shows that the majority of girls like to be in a girls led, girls only space.:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -

Yes and I have even seen news articles of people moaning it is sexist...

When I was a scout, we were told that "God" in the Promise stands for all the values we believe in. Obviously, for some people it was the Christian God, but for some it was good, honour, truth etc. From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
So some people can't join Guides if they aren't believers in anything, or they just have to make something up? That would be my whole family not allowed to join.0

the long and short of it is just that it is a misunderstanding... if you contacted GGUK HQ they would advise that no female aged 5+ would be excluded from Girlguiding...especially not because of their chosen faith...:jBaby Boy born December 20120 -

... and there are over 44000 girls on waiting lists for either Rainbows, Brownies or Guides. So clearly having a girls-only space is incredibly important for a lot of girls.0
