For a start who said I got a poor score? Also, to a previous poster, at what stage does anyone get a gold debit card for this account? lol. Also, as far as the debate goes about the account type. It's a full current account...wether or not you choose to have an overdraft facility/cheque book/credit card etc, is up to the applicant when applying, but these facilities are available to those with this account and not the basic account. Why would they offer a basic account if this is one? Don't understand. I'm not paying 12.95 a month for the account I'm paying it for the breakdown cover, phone insurance and travel cover which IMO covers this fee to a degree as I have a Galaxy S3, and go abroad at least once a year.

    My thoughts entirely.
  • Further to earlier posts - I received two texts today saying my Pin and Card have been despatched and to expect them in a couple of days, surely I am past the AVU now?

Just an update really. Stclair was right. Got card, pin, welcome pack. Went to log into online banking to set up standing orders etc. Got a message saying unable to show accounts. Couple days later got a letter/statement saying my advantage gold and eisa had been closed. Furious wth this and have emailed customer service asking for an explanation as i changed my account fr my wages at work etc. Now i got to change again. Cant believe banks can get away with this its a joke.

Sorry to hear that, as I said thats what happened to me, and of course when you tell people they don't believe you, it seems such a waste of time and effort, and I too had started to get funds paid in and it was a nightmare to sort out.

I did complain but got a standard 'We will not enter into any further discussions etc'.

Anyway good luck and stay away from Natwest !.

Are Natwest the only bank that pull this silly stunt? Check properly when the customer applies for the account not when its opened. How hard is that?

Welcome to the ever increasing club of people Natwest/RBS have AVU'd although I didn't get a card/pin when they AVU'd me.

Have you tried anywhere else? Both Lloyds TSB and Santander have accepted me for full accounts recently when Natwest (who I have banked with for 6 years on their step/basic account) AVU'd me

Not really sure how I passed AVU with 1 CCJ and 7 defaults.. Had my Select Silver Account for 7 months now.

Anyway, sorry to hear they closed the account down after you arranged to have your wages paid in, very naughty of them, very naughty indeed.

I would suspect your select silver account is the credit restricted version...

    More than likely mate :D

Just makes you wonder how bad your credit has to be to be denied by AVU for an account
