Natwest Advantage Gold Account

Just to echo the above really, in that early in the year I went into a NatWest Branch in Newcastle city centre to open a savings account, the First Reserve one with the Debit card. I sat down and the guy keyed in all my details, took and photocopied my ID, printed the paperwork out and went away for a minute to get it signed off. When he came back he gave me the account number and sort code and showed me on screen that the account was opened and told me that I could deposit some money today if I wanted. I said once I get the card I will pay in some funds.
Less than a week later I got a statement showing account closed !, no letter, no card nothing just a statement saying closed !. And that was a savings account !.0 -
Well I hope this isnt the case!!Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers - make sure your hands are clean. Bob Marley - Legend.0

I know some people have had problems but I've not gotten even close to this stage so I'm HOPING i'm not one of the ones that this happens too. Luckily I hadn't got it open in time to do my wags this month or it could leave me in a right pickle!!Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. Why the hell do Natwest close accounts after they sent all the cards out etc? This is a waste of money!! Just shows that their application process is flawed. Surely all the checks are carried out during the application process and not after, isn't this the whole point?
Seeing these kind of posts makes me wonder if I should just cancel my application and goto Llloyds or something. Because I would be rather peed off after going into the branch, account set up, card received then a letter saying your account is closed. Poor practice Natwest....
Can someone from Natwest on here explain why they do this?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
This would be nice if there is a NatWest rep on here...Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be. But before you start pointing fingers - make sure your hands are clean. Bob Marley - Legend.0

What a complete waste of time !, the letter also said that some one would be sent to collect the card or I could return them to a branch, in the meantime of course having been given the account details I set up payments into it, what a mess trying to sort that out !. When into the branch and handed over everything and took the balance out, the woman at the desk said she has seen it all before !.
So I don't want to be a spoil sport and I really hope it does not happen to you, but Natwest work in funny ways !, I never did find out why as they said in the letter that 'No correspondance would be entered into and their decision wasfinal !'.
are you some kind of criminal? Why would they treat you in such an overly dramatic way?0 -
He must of had CCJs or past debt that wasnt picked up on with RBS or Natwest? Only way I could see them do this to somebody?? OR fraud?Who are you to judge the life I live? None of those, opened up a Lloyds account right after, and never had any problems with Credit Cards either before or after it, woman in the branch said that she see's it all the time, and no one understands why.
And I also have a RBS without any problems !.0 -

I've set my online banking up and can see everything is in order so I am just waiting for my debit card/cheque book etc. Can someone answer a question for me please? Will my debit card with this Advantage Gold account be a fully authorised offline debit card? IE the purple one?Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and don't live to be.
