In car parks such as schools, pubs, councils etc, you are not on a Highway. Any accidents not involving injury will be ignored, from a legal point of view. As you are both friends, I can understand that you wish to stay friends, so I would advise that you approach your friend's husband and ask what he can do for you both. I am an ex-workshop foreman and have dealt with many such incidents over the years (Most not based upon friendly relationships!) If the husband cannot help, find a friendly body shop which will do the 2 jobs for cash, then make what adjustments you can.

When you say "Panel beater", is he an actual body shop man, with repair experience including paint spraying?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

    That's because It isn't true.

If the public have access it is treated as part of the highway and the Road Traffic Act applies.

The police won't turn up to most accidents unless there is an injury but Robisere is wrong - I know as the cops did follow up someone bumping my car in a Tesco car park and told me the above.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

Don't bother with anymore legal advice until you can get it right.

The many people who have been successfully prosecuted for being drunk in charge of a vehicle or driving whilst over the legal limit whilst still in a pub carpark will be relieved to know that they can get their convictions overturned.

I reckon the insurers would spilt it 50/50.

Hitting a parked car while parking herself.
And they should have been expecting the door to open.

If your daughter had opened it into a parked car it would be different.

I am with Mikey but dont know for sure

It,s your daughters fault for opening the door onto the other car. See if thE. husband of the woman can fix it for you. Might not cost too much

Yes, daughter should have looked but other driver should also have been aware that a car that has just parked will have doors opening. It depends on timing too.

I would have thought 50 / 50 and would phone my insurer to ask what they say.
