OK I'm impatient, but 28 hours into the 72, absolutely no improvement...
Is the kit just meant to realise that line is improved and gradually speed climbs to max? or in staccato jumps?
...or (cynically) when someone at Orange or at the exchange flicks a switch and full service is restored...?0 -
Post your router line statistics. If the sync is as it was before you need to get on to Horrange, DLM would normally kick off at around 4Mbps.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Are you keeping the router permanently on and connected? Line training can take up to 10 days.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

penrhyn,
I'm away from home till midnight, will check at that point - only stats I remember are 38db rather than 41 (forget the actual category) and the usual Downstream/Upstream .2mbps and .8mbps...
macman,
oh yes! connected to the test socket...
If no difference tonight (approx 56hrs since Openreach left and Orange advised of situation), does this point to Orange or BT?
I know I have to go back to ISP but if they start talking about another house call I'll freak out.
I want the job done but just don't want to waste more annual leave unnecessarily - so far 2 half days and one full day [BT tell me I can be compensated for their no-show with a £10 discount off next bill, are they serious? My time is worth more than £2 an hour...]0 -
Call at work from Orange. Pleasant lady asked a few questions about the issues, indicated she was going to speak to the exchange.
10 mins later she called again to advise speed now reading 7.8mbps. Leave Livebox switched on in the master/test socket for 10 days - Happily! if I can maintain this level of performance...0 -
I'd check that advised speed myself before you get too excited...No free lunch, and no free laptop0

UPDATED ROUTER STATS
http://www.flickr.com/photos/47011098@N00/8075288890/in/photostream
noise margin down from 29.4dB to 6.2dB
Upstream figures minimal variation
but Download indicating 10002 kbps vs 239 kbps
10 days of checking and stabilising to follow...0 -
I'd consider that a result! No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Looks good to me.That gum you like is coming back in style.0

... And suddenly back to zero service... My 3G phone is getting 4mbps over 3G but wired and wireless devices cannot run speedtests over broadband - sites taking ages to draw onscreen.
Www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk was site of choice as it's logging all recent tests, 25 blobs in progress bar, doesn't seem to want to pass first 2...
Is this just an aberration that might occur during 10 day stabilisation of line? Just seemed such a blow when test started out at about 8mbps. Not a tapering over a long period, but 2 hours ago BB was flying!!!
As an aside, OpenReach engineer suggested if Orange rated line too highly, he felt it could generate errors that would drag speed down to the 0.2 rate once more...he felt line was reliable for about 4mbps...
Reported issue to Orange, hard to assess if just getting party line - "wait for the 10days", he couldn't comment on my current speed...0
