Which Norton to buy?

Hi everyone,
I need some help on what to do about buying security software for my PC. I bought the PC in January from HP and it had Norton 2006 ready installed. It was only free for a limited period, and it's been reminding me that my subscription for virus protection is due to expire in 9 days. It has given me 3 choices, pay £54.99 for a Norton 360 upgrade, pay £49.99 for an upgrade to Norton Internet Security & Norton Systemworks, or renew my subscription for £42.35.
In MSE fashion, I've checked out PC World's prices, but it's v. confusing - they have 3 different prices for the Internet Security 2007, and it seems that you have to buy Norton Antivirus 2007, separate, making it quite expensive. They have Macafee 2007 for a cheaper price, but it's not just the price I'm concerned about, it's about getting the best one for my PC. I want something simple to install. Do I go for an upgrade? I have XP Media Center installed on my PC if that makes a difference. I'm reluctant to ask for adive at PC World as I don't know how reliable they are.
I'd welcome any advice as I want to get this sorted in the next few days.
Thanks.

I shall watch your posting as I am in a similiar position. I went to PC world yesterday and they had Norton 07package on offer for Easter for £34.99. A friend of mine got me 3 months free subscription by doing something on line (sorry not a techie) but I 've never managed to find it. Someone will respond soon and then we'll be safe.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

You can buy Norton Internet Security 2007 upgrade edition from Amazon for around £35.

This will give you Firewall and Antivirus software with updates for 12 months
A lot of people on here recommend AVG Antivirus free, and ZoneAlarm Firewall also free.

If you go this way you must first uninstall Norton.
Symantec have a tool for getting rid of all traces of Norton

There's absolutely no point in buying Norton, in recent tests by PC Pro, Norton performs only averagely and is actually beaten in performance by AVG. Since AVG is free it wouldn't be in MSE fashion to buy Norton no matter how cheap it was."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

which norton to buy? : none!
As has been said above, get yourself AVG and Zonealarm, free and just as good.matched betting profits: £557.250 -
There is little or no reason to buy anti-virus software for a PC, there are more than enough individuals and companies willing to provide it free if you are a home user, they make their money by selling it to business with multiple licenses.
Have a good look around the MSE site, there are loads of tips about running a PC safely and for minimal cash.

This site is updated daily with the latest versions of free software, little need to go anywhere else and no need to spend.
Remember just because you pay for it doesn't mean its any good, Norton is the last piece of software I would ever have on any PC.0 -
avoid norton like the plague - get nod32 and a decent fireewall like kerio.0

...and if you still have doubts about ditching Norton/Symantec, then read this story about updating to Norton 2007.
Keep clear of it!!!0
