Its not all about buying gadgets and 2nd cars.
Where I live in the South there is no way we could get a mortgage based on 1 of our salaries for a house big enough to have kids in.
So if we have children I will have to go back to work to pay the mortgage, not necessarily full time, but perhaps a 4 day week or something.0 -
What really baffles me is the amount of couples who choose to have children and then pass them to someone else to bring up.
Many say they need to work. Perhaps they could think about cutting back on the lifestyle, is it really necessary to run two cars? Holidays abroad etc.

I am not sure that is very fair.
All of us could have mortgaged ourselves to the hilt, oblivious to the fact that if we had children we would still then need two full time salaries. Some of us, thought ahead and bought what could be afforded on one salary plus a possible part time wage.0
