Thank you froggy:D I am going to serialise the entire diary and call it 50 Shades of Crap.

I imagine it will be awarded some sort of literature prize this time next year, so I'll dedicate the whole lot to you (now if you could just help me finance the vanity publishing deal that would be great:D)

    Well I've just eaten my lulalayerdish and I thought it was really yummy:T I also used ingredients in the house (go me!) as follows;

Finely slice 2 onions, crush garlic (I love garlic so used quite a few cloves) and soften in olive oil.
Add tin tomatoes (mine's came ready chopped)
Slice as many potatoes as you like (I sliced 5 medium sized - although perhaps a wee bit too many)
I used a cast iron dish and layered tomato/onion/garlic followed by potato, then another layer etc. until all ingredients used up.
Another glug of olive oil (although in hindsight I don't think anymore was needed), sea salt and ground black pepper.
Grated cheese (I didn't have very much cheese, so would have used a wee bit more had it been available)
Whacked in the oven whilst I had a nanna nap:D

The next time, I would use rosemary (fried through with the garlic and onions) and definitely slightly more cheese - oh and slightly less potatoes and olive oil:D

This dish suited my veggie palate, however for meat eaters out there I would say would be a great side dish.

Heeeyyyyy - I've just posted a recipe on my thread! (I'm the new Fortune Smiles / MWC:T)

    NP:D

that sounds delish ... do you think sweet potatoes would work? mr el is on a low carb thingy starting tomorrow so wont have normal tatties, but will partake of the sweet variety

I have been secretly lurking on your diary and just wanted to say I do something similar with just onions and potatoes, but my input is that I slice and microwave the potato slices for a few mins before layering - reduces the time in oven (very MSE) just not sure how it would affect a 'nanna nap'?!

I don't see any reason why sweet pots wouldn't work el - in fact it might taste even better.

Hi Iona - please don't lurk and thank you so much for posting:T I definitely regret using too much olive oil, as even when I had part 2 (heated in a different oven dish), there was still too much of the stuff for my liking.....that's a good idea to microwave the slices first though:)

I actually nipped back across from Froggy's diary...it's still 2010 back there. I feel like I'm in my own version of 'Life on Mars' / 'Ashes to Ashes' :D

  • Thanks Elantan. That would be fab!

On sharing books, my mum reads the same books as me, and if its gets a bit... errmmm... you know... I don't want her to read it. (we all know our parents dont do that sort of thing)
Saying that DD1 is also know reading more grown up authors, she's currently into sophie kinsella, and i cringe, and think, should i stop her.... ? Saying that shes very sensible, far more sensible than I was at that age

funny thing is i never have tended to read those kinda books, i was more into dragons and warlocks and adventure.. the way i kinda looked at it was reading was a chance to escape real life for me, and i wanted something that was totally as far away from my reality as possible ...

oh dear that makes my life sound like something out of 50 shades of grey ..:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
