Hi Spigs
Thanks for the help and warm welcome. Having the OP as part of the DD really helps me with starting the month off to a good start. I'm hoping to average £500 OP per month, so any extra now will help with lean months or is a bonus if I can maintain the OP.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

Hi MTC
Just had a look through your diary - what a fab start!!
Your journey to MFdom looks rather similar to mine - bank MF date is 2031 but would like to be MF by Aug 2020.
Have you signed up for the Mortgage Free in Three - Take 3? You can set your goal of how much you'd like to pay off in the 3 years rather than the whole lot. Would add a link here butcan't seem to do it!

Hi Ickle
I'll be keeping an eye on your diary then, best of luck with it.
As for my progress, my partner says I don't have hobbies, I have obsessions! Which is a fair point. So my early OP just represents my all or nothing nature! I just wish I had found this forum sooner!
I'll check out the challenge thread and sign up, cheers for the heads up.
Keep watching guys, I'll be coming up with ideas to ramp up the OP's in the next few weeks!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

I'm not a MFW (yet) - still saving for a deposit, but like to nosey around the MFW diaries for motivation - and one day I hope to join.
But just wanted to suggest that you take a look at your monthly bills and make sure that they are on the lowest tariffs that they can be.
*check gas and electric - use a comparison site to compare different options available in your area (also check cash back sites to see if there are incentives for switching [if switching is cheaper] - eg Quidco, onepoll cash back, top cashback)
*water - consider if a meter would be cheaper for your usage [if you're not already on one]
*check if you can get your home phone and internet for cheaper at a different company
*If you have pay-for TV, check that you use all the extra channels that you are paying for [consider freeview or freesat as alternatives]
*Check that you are using all the minutes/texts that you get in your phone contract [if you have one], if not look at alternatives, if so, see if you can get the same for cheaper elsewhere [eg try GiffGaff]
*use comparison sites and check different companies when if comes to renewal for insurances [car, buildings, contents, life etc]
Just a few suggestions if these are not things that you are already doing.

You're right Domino, I do need to go through all my bills and see any savings possible. I do fancy upgrading the Sky for Sports! Would stop me going to the pub to watch the footie!
My mrs just text me ( I'm in the pub watching footie!), Christmas pressies sorted for people. She bought £355 worth of wine, for £149 with free delivery from M&S! I have offered to make a dent into it for her!!!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

Evening folks,
The OP will be updated tomorrow as my partners building society were being a pain about her transferring money over to our mortgage. Should be fine tomorrow. I sold a foglight that isn't needed anymore for £55 today. After postage is taken care of, I'll put the other £52 odd in for OP.
The wine arrived today, all 48 bottles of it! Didn't expect it to be honest as I think the codes applied to the order, discounted extra in our favour. Should be 20% off the sale price but took 20% off the original. Lots of pressies now for Christmas!Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006

My wonderful partner came up trumps today!!!
She moved over from her account, £2,200!!! It was a result of her super scrimping spend thrift ways rather than having lots of money in the first place.Mortgage at Highest- £126.995 Aug 2006
