How long do Dell take to build a PC?

I ordered a new PC on saturday (desktop) from Dell but since then it's been stuck on "preproduction". When can I expect it to be delivered, as I'll maybe need to stay in? It seems to be taking ages. If each stage takes this long it's going to be almost 2 weeks before it's delivered. I'm kinda in an emergency with needing it hence the urgency :o

If you ordered an off the shelf one you should get it next day. If you have addded equipment then it can take longer for parts to be assembled. I doubt the sat order was dealt with until yesterday when all the w/e orders start to get processed

They never just turn up - they will email or phone to make sure someone will be in. Well worth the wait. I have had 4 over the years and they are usually here within a week to 10 days. If you want someone to come and set it all up for you that might take longer.

Strange, it's now saying it's in production as of 31-3-07. Ah well I suppose it will be here soon, thanks both, nice to know they do call beforehand.

Dell normally give a Date of delivery on Orders when you place the order. it should also be on your tracking slip when you are checking the progress.

Normally dell deliver within 7 Working Days from Order Date and on or before the Date of delivery you should have.

I needed my Dad's to arrive within about four days because he was going on a cruise. I told the guy that if it couldn't arrive by then, I didn't want it - he said he'd make it a priority shipment and it came in three days I think.

Just confirming that Dell do phone to arrange delivery. Ordered one on Saturday online for MIl, call received on Monday re delivery which will be today. They don't give you a time just any time after 8 am is what she was told.
