I've had a savings account with Egg since they started up and have been frustrated by their failure to keep up with interest rate rises. But my faith in them has been restored by this ISA - it was so quick and easy to set up, took less than 5 mins in total from beginning the application process to the funds showing up in my account. Well done Egg! :beer:poppy100

Wife has just opened hers in record time. However just made payment and have been sent an email almost immediately saying payment failed probably down to external bank issue. Says to go and make payment again. Anyone else had this? Just want to make sure it definately hasn't taken payment so they don't accidentily take twice out of our bank account0

I'm looking into this as my first ever ISA. I've noticed reading through that most have invested a the £3000 at the start. I can't do this though and was wanting to put in a monthly amount for this year - transfer that next year to a new ISA and carry on with the monthly amount aswell. By 2009 tax year I should hopefully be able to invest £200 per month. Aswell as the lump sum from previous years. Does this sound ok as a start? How does the interest work out - is it monthly or yearly?
scarborough BS pay 6.3% on a monthly saver isa i think max is 250 pcm and theres more chance of scarborough getting taken over and paying out a windfall than their is of egg paying out any windfalls0 -
I'd ring the bank and ask if there are any pending transactions on the account. If not, try again with Egg.

Hi,
I had this error with my wifes and then money was not taken. I only tried to transfer a £1!.
If you try smaller amounts from a debit card it works. I transferred 2x £200 a night and then a few x £100 and then a few x £50. Different amounts each day so the amount build up.
Its quicker using a debit card than a bank transfer.

Just signed up to this offer from Egg, cannot say a single bad thing about them, my entire process completed, with email notification in five minutes. Why did I bother going to the Barclays branch this morning...?!?0

Tried again and failed, so did what you suggested (or rather my wife did). Lloyds had put a security warning on her card so it was them and not Egg, Anyhow sercuity sorted, and deposit just made. Little bit of hassle, but not as bad as going with Barclays. Always been very impressed with Egg before (has savings accounts and credit cards) so hopefully as long as the rate stays good we should stay with them for a while0 -
Sounds like a glitch rather than planned downtime - have you tried again yet?

Thanks for taking an interest, I had a look again tonight and it went through ok. I was about to go through the sign-up procedure again but thought I might as well give logging in a go... and I was very pleased to see it worked and had remembered where I had got to with my application!
Email just came through to confirm it's all set up, I'm very very impressed! Well done Egg :beer:0 -
I thought that might happen to me, as it did with a Halifax credit card in December for a smaller amount, but luckily it went through OK. Glad you got to the bottom of it.
