It may be a stupid question, but do you know how to do this without opening a 2007/8 account please? Started filling in the online forms but when you get to the second page the declaration is for opening a new 2007/8 account and asks do you also wish to transfer in and add money, or open 2007/8 with no new money (it doesn't seem to have an option for just transferring in unless I am missing it).
Many thanks

The online application form I filled in says;
"Do you want to transfer an existing Cash ISA to this account?" - answer Yes
"Please select how you would like to save for this tax year:" - answer No new savings0 -

I understood the second point "No new savings" meant that you just didn't want to do it now (while applying), rather than not at all? I knew there had to be an answer - many thanks

Opinion so far...
Opened my account a couple of days back as a new Egg customer. The automated process was quick and bug free. Set up in about 5 mins. Added money from my debit card straight away. Money manager has also worked apart from one account. Quite like the site functionality. Fingers crossed the rate stays high. Well done Egg.
Never crossed my mind to open a Barclays ISA. Used to have my current account with them and they were useless, never once did I feel valued as a customer there.0 -

Good to have the opinion of someone who wasn't already an Egg customer. Did you have to send them anything by post once you had opened the ISA online (eg signed form, proof of ID/address, etc)?0 -
As it seems from a quick glance, that most on this thread are existing customers with Egg, does anyone know how new customers to Egg have fared when applying for the 07/08 ISA?0

Hi I opened an Egg cash ISA the other day, I had an email after about 15 minutes and my money was in the account and available to see. Paid money in via debit card. I was not previously an Egg customer.
I am VERY pleased so far.0 -

Nope, nothing needed to be sent by post. It did say they may request additonal information on the initial application screen but I presume they do this if they can't verify you on the electoral roll.0 -
Well comparing this thread to the Barclays one is interesting to say the least!! I have just opened a NS&I ISA and turned down the Barclays one in the end due to the problems everyone seems to be having with them. Now my wife has still to decide. Its either NS&I again or maybe Egg. This thread certainly seems to suggest Egg are in control, so although the Egg doesn't track the BoE base rate it may still be worth a go. At least we will have 1 with NS&I and 1 with Egg, so will spread the 'risk' a bit. Just wondering what you think Egg would do if the base rate increases. Would they increase it from 6.05% or hold steady (as I suspect Barclays would definately do)0

Sounds very much like the NS&I one. They take the money straight away which I assume means they start paying you interest the very next day. Think NS&I still send you a form to sign (and maybe prove of address), so assume Egg wouldn't too different0 -
I have an Egg money account and thought I would go for the Egg ISA as well.
The process was nice and easy and by the time I had completed the form and clicked on submit, I had confirmation by email that the account was open!
Fab service, fingers crossed it continues!MFIT No. 810
