That would be difficult Jerry as cat owners can't be held responsible for their pets actions ....... unlike dog owners.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Jenny I do get where you're coming from - my wee cat absolutely HATES other cats. I've been lucky as no cats in my particular part of the street (the cats here thankfully seem to stick to their own wee territories) - however, I had new neighbours move in a couple of weeks ago ... and they have a cat.
I'm dreading the inevitable meeting (esp as my cats have always gone into next doors garden as it was unoccupied) but they've just as much right to have a cat/dog as I do. I do think your OP was absolutely hysterical & sincerely hope it was stress that made it come across that way!

do wonder sometimes who the heck some cat owners think they are. During the summer myself and my neighbour had our windows open - shock horror - and the local cat decided to wander round into our houses and sleep on the beds. Not so much of a problem from me as it soon learnt it was bad idea to come to into mine (probably best not to share how on a pet board) sadly my neighbour was not so tough and found the cat sleeping in her 1 year olds cot one day - ahhh cute some will say but not if you are allergic or the cat decides to smother her child. more importantly if you choose to have a cat why is it not your responsibility like any other animal would be? The owner of the cat says there was nothing they could do as obviously the cat needed to wander like they all do :mad:
Im sorry its hard but I cant stand the attitude of some cat owners.
I hope the dog takes control of its own territory and teaches your cat a good lesson if it ever does try to do anything.0 -
Get rid of my cat? How is that responsible? I don't think it's unreasonable to supervise both of them on the first day to see how they react, that's being responsible. And so far so good...0

In my defence, I posted this straight after spotting the puppy for the first time, after I'd made sure Clarence was inside and shut the cat flap! So yes, I agree, I did panic slightly...0 -

I agree that cats need to wander, but I do think there are things a cat owner can do - hence why I shut my cat inside straight away and jumped on the Internet to see what I could do... and as a last resort, I would keep my cat in, and have had to in the past. Anyway, it looks like it won't have to come to thatperhaps Clarence has mellowed in his old age, it's been a good few years since he last encountered a dog!

fair enough, shame my cat owning neighbour was very different to you.
hope Clarence enjoys his mellow old age and stays with you who actually chose to own him. You never know there may well be great cat/dog friendship builds up0
