My cat hates dogs, neighbours have new puppy...

I used to work in a place where one of our people was coming in with his guide dog (GS) as he was blind.
Feeling sorry for the dog in the office all day, used to take him out for a walk lunch time to the field behind the hospital, where are ambulances were parked.
Suit, high heels and a massive GS (bigger than Zara) but hey - a guide dog so calm, rite?
Yup, he was till one day we saw a cat there. Dog did not react but THAT cat.. Jesusssssssssssssssssssssssssssss that cut run towards us at such speed, clawed into the dogf's shoulder like a total psycho and the dog started to run.. dragging me behind (on those high heels mind it).
Cat still attached to the poor dog's shoulder, can not stop the dog to even try to get the cat off him as the dog is running.. Ambulance men pi.... ng themselves laughing at us and getting 2 stretcher ready (one for me, one for dog - for a laugh)...
Finally the cat got off the dog and very calmly walked away..
Turned out it was a female and had babies in the bushes (went to look for the cat later on the day and found them - was feeding them afterwards and got them homed) so she was very protective over HER teritory...
Poor dog had no idea what hit him..... scratches and bites from the cat were quite substantial...
But I did not fall over LOL0 -

Thread not valid without a photo
The big bad bruiser himself0 -
Clarence is a rescue stray, so I always wonder what happened to him in a past life for him to react so badly... He's certainly never showed any fear towards dogs, just pure aggression!0

Oh dear.. he lokks like butter would not melt.. doesn't he......
I am sure he is just a cute lap cat and not a dog terrorist LOL0 -
Here is a more accurate picture, with the usual scratch on his nose...0

Ohhhhhhhh poor little one...
He is so handsome though.....0 -
Don't feel sorry for him, he's a menace! Haha0

You have to give him time to get used to it.
I'm sure now you've warned them, the neighours will be on the lookout for trouble and will chase the cat away if necessary. Cats have good memories. Once he's been warned off a couple of times, if they give him a big enough scare off, he'll keep a wide berth.
You can't tred on eggshells. You've warned them. It's all you need to do."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
You should either get rid of your cat or face up to paying for the fees if she ever gets hold of the poor puppy next door!
Poor pup. I hope its going to be ok. Your cat sounds like a nightmare. I too am glad you do not live next to me.
That puppy deserves to be happy in his own garden unsupervised as much as he likes. If you can't control your cat, then you should get rid of it. I am amazed at your attitude.
If your cat ever came near my dog and hurt him, I would sue you to high heaven!0 -
I got 4 cats.. I feel sorry for every tiney scratch on any of them - and any other cat I see.....
Just been in the garden and my 40kg of a GS dog was chased around the garden by neighbours black cat - Zara is really scared of that one LOL0
