Perhaps she is seeing the bigger picture? Familial pressure would solve an issue with bullies far quicker/better than a school could. Bullies and their parents rely on the fact that the victims feel ashamed of what's happened/happening to them. The bullies like the power, and the parents want to keep their little bully safe from judgement. All too often at the expense of the victim.

I don't really hold with the idea that everything should be kept hush hush so the bully can go on with life as if nothing's happened. I think they should be shamed publicly, and if that means that dear little old granddad at the social club feels one iota of the pain that this victim's family have felt, then so be it. Maybe then the parents of bullies will start to really tackle the issue head on.

    I agree with that.

They are going to monitor the situation, and there is another meeting in 2 weeks time.

What's their bullying policy? If it's the old routine of 'no blame' and then 'restorative justice' it's a complete waste of time. Just make sure that if things haven't improved after this 2 week period they don't try to drag their heels with some other delaying 'no punishment' tactic.

how can an issue be resolved if it isn't mentioned? Grandad has an 'in' with thebullies family, i would definately expolit that, even better if it's done in a social environment.

"i had my grandson over the other day, he was in a bit of a state as he said your grandson is picking on him - have a word will you?"

"Really sorry about that, i'll have a word. Another pint?"

    Gold case scenario that mind!
  • definately go out and mention it, dont be like half the chickens on this post and let a person get bullied and not say anything, if they are friends then they will certainly address it and stop it, say nothing and your just as bad as the bully, be very polite and explain in a soft voice and calm, if they kick off them give them both barrells and if you have a nephew at that school tell him to go beat the crap out of said bully see how he likes it :0)
