    Wouldnt dream of paying outright for the iPhone 5. For me it is a MUST have which is why ill just upgrade through Orange Retentions. But its not £700 worth of handset!

    Why get Apple Care when they just replace it in store for free if it gets faulty?

    That doesn't make sense, it's cheaper to buy it outright rather than through a network. Do the Sums:

    Orange = £109.99 for phone (16gb) + £36 pcm tariff over 24 months = £973.99

    Outright = £530 for phone (16gb) + £10 for GiffGaff over 24 months = £770.

    So I'd pay £203.99 less than you over the same period.

    As for Apple Care, the Apple warranty only last 12 months, Apple Care extends it to two years.
  • My £67 Huawei Ascend G300 comes with a 2 year warranty as standard. Just saying :D

    And is an inferior phone when compared to the likes of iPhone/SS Galaxy SIII etc.

    Just be aware that the adaptor doesn't connect to all devices.

    I have an iPhone and do not see what all the fuss is about.

    I have the 4S and will keep it till it stops working.

    Apple rely on apple lovers near fever pitch need to have there most recent device.

    never been an apple fan and having an iPhone has not changed that, maybye if apple fans stoped buying there latest release prices would have to be reduced.

    It's certainly less desirable (it flipping should be, it's about 2 half decent laptops less expensive :eek:) but the manufacturer doesn't have the same confidence when it comes to guaranteeing its longevity.

    I know what you mean, when I got my ipod touch I thought/hoped I would love it enough to get a 4 or 4s as I do like the look of them, but on a practical term there is no advantage over other devices, it's not even the price of the handsets as reletively they are cheap compared to years ago when you paid £300 for a nokia 2140 plus deposit plus contract of a tiny 15 mins per month and no text or data :o

    but for £36 less than £10 a month difference over the period you have unlimited calls & texts !

    Apple care ? try free 24 EU warranty http://www.apple.com/uk/legal/statutory-warranty/

    The samsung s3 has a sd card slot so you can add a 32gb card to the 16gb it already has

    And you get a 2 year warranty with it too, Thanks Samsung :)!
  • I can't believe the prices, and even more so, the price of the contracts!

    Also, at my place of work, the amount of people who claim they are skint, and then turn up with the newest iphone! There is even one chap on the loans forum talking about financing an iphone! Are people really that desperate for the latest tech?

    When the 4 came out, one of my friends proudly produced it, and then claimed it was on contract for £50 a month over 2 years. Thats a hell of a lot of money and a hell of a long time to be tied into a contract.

    That said, i'm a moaning old !!!!!! who is still happy with an old nokia and a sim only deal for a few quid a month. I have actually just replaced my old nokia with another not so old nokia - a c1-01 and added a 16gb memory card for only a fiver extra!
