    Hello everyone.
I have received one of these letters today. Again, no name under the signature, all very strange, the same line about 'We act on behalf of a client'.

I have a statute barred debt from a long time ago, I think it could be about that.

I really just want to throw this letter in the bin, and I'm certainly not going to ring them. What are the odds of them sending more letters or sending bailiffs round if I do ignore them please?

Thanks! Any advice appreciated as I'm a bit worried. xx

Bailiffs act on behalf of the Courts, so Tower cannot send them around.
As the debt is stature barred, ignore the letter.

Throw it in the bin, it'll make you feel better.
and I'm certainly not going to ring them.

    No, don't do that.
What are the odds of them sending more letters

I'd say it was a dead cert, but what are the odds of you still having your bin when the letters arrive?
or sending bailiffs round if I do ignore them please?

Well, considering that only the courts can send the bailiffs round, I would say ZERO.
Thanks! Any advice appreciated as I'm a bit worried. xx

They rely on you getting worried enough to pay them, it's all they've got.
  • Thank you!! xx

I had one of these before, it turned out that they were acting on my (then) bank. I had moved house and had taken the time to go into a branch and inform them - they even took my driving licence away and photocopied it to take care of it all.

Six months later they suddenly decided that I had disappeared off the face of the earth so got one of these firms to 'find me' (a letter to my previous address had been returned to them undelivered)

Cue a lot of hassle where they tried to claim that I had violated the terms and conditions of my account by not keeping them up to date of my whereabouts
  • Hi, my Brother recieved the same letter today - vague, no name under illegable signature, just a free phone number. The only debt he has is a credit card debt that he is currently paying back and able to reuse his credit(ie, if he pays £50 back, he can use it again straight away).

My mother has past debts - all of which are in the hands of the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), he is considering asking them. Is this a good idea?

    Any advice would be appreceated.

Hmm - I got a second letter from them today. Worded exactly the same as the first one.

The cat is currently playing with it, he's done some fine hole-punching of it indeed!:D

I shan't be calling them. If they think I owe them money, they can try writing - they'll get a very firmly worded letter in reply!!

    xx
  • my partner has now received three of these letters in just over a month.

I can honestly say that, other than the usual credit card and mortgage debts, we have no skeletons in our closet.

All our letters are unsigned like every one elses. If they act on behalf of a bank (lloyds tsb i've read in some forums) surely the bank would be contacting us first to tell us they were placing our details with a third party. (lets face it - banks write to us so often to offer loans and credit cards, you would think they'd remember to knock you off the mailing list if you were a bad debt client)

I think this company are unprofessional and most probably trying to scam us out of money! and would certainly recommend that all communication from them is not acknowledged, I'm considering taking the letters to trading standards, see if they can find anything out
