When photographing crisps many moons ago, a woman approached me and aggressively demanded to see my photos. Turns out she thought I was snapping her toddler. I told her that I don't get paid for photos of toddlers, only for photos of crisps :rotfl:0 -

If in doubt, pretend you're nuts.
It's easier for some of us than others.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

that " member of public" could be a "member of staff" on lunch/day off etc who could tip off the store theyve just been msd
some interesting explanations given above
the one time I was asked, i just ignored their question and asked if they would like me to take one of them, they quickly moved away0 -
Must admit, I'm not 100% happy with taking photos, but accept it is part of the job, and always try to do it as covertly as possible. Thankfully, I've not been acosted yet
.......will think of a good response, just in case.

Those online fashion retailer assignments look quite good... Until you find that the earliest store collection dates are outside the stipulated assignment dates that store visits must take place.
Tried to contact the mystery shopping company. But it's weekend. No one's home.
Had to reject the assignments as it's not worth paying out for goods to then possibly find that a report won't be accepted due to invalid dates.

Most amusing time this happened to me was when I was visiting an electricals store on behalf of a vendor, one of those where you covertly assess how prominent their POS is etc. I was in the car park taking the photo when the instore VENDOR rep (who I wasn't assessing) came over to me on his way home and asked if I was a Mystery Shopper... I think I said I had just bought the camera and was testing it out!0 -
I had a brilliant one a little while back listenning to two members of staff talking about mystery shoppers, if they'd ever been shopped, how they could tell if they were being shopped. Then one was said how they were always really easy to spot.
Didn't spot me and I was sitting 4 feet in front of him :cool:Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

Hello everyone
I had to take a photo of a electrical store in my local large shopping centre and was grabbed by the centres security staff and taken to the office. They thought I was planning a terrorist attack as I looked suspicious. Yes, I was in a fluff because my camera wouldn't work so was swearing quietly to myself. When I explained and handed over my job notes from MS company I was then frog marched out of the centre and told not to come back! I have since been back to shopping centre on a non MS visit and haven't been stopped by security. However, when I see them now, walking towards me my heart stops and I do go red lol.
Can I ask a question please? I've got my first clothes purchase reimbursement for a high st retailer next week. Its fee plus reimbursement of x amount. Do I just have to buy 1 item upto x amount or can I buy say 2 items upto x amount? It doesn't say in the job notes only says 'make a purchase'. Obviously if the 2 items cost over x amount then they'll only pay upto x amount. Confused.com!0
