  • Wow. I've collected and installed my Brightbox. Very simple to connect everything up to it. Literally took 10 minutes to plug in, connect 2 laptops, 1 desktop and iPhone.
Did a speed check. With my Livebox was lucky to get 1.9mb/s just got 9.7mb/s. I don't know much about this but presume that's a lot faster.

I'm on Home Max and get free second line (although virtually never made calls on it) so have given that up to get the Brightbox - although my account and charges are not changing

    Thanks for your help

It was on wikipedia that the 2nd line was being stopped in September, but then the page got changed. I still use my 2nd line and want to keep it for as long as possible.

    Discontinuation of Second Line Service

"The Second Line was a VOIP service which included a separate telephone number, was withdrawn for new customers on 17 September 2010[1].
In September 2011, Orange Shops in the UK began offering the Netgear DGN1000 router which has no facility to accommodate a Second Line making the service a legacy only facility. As of August 2012, existing customers are being notified that the Second Line service will be discontinued from 17th September 2012 and any calls made using the Second Line will be charged at the standard rate by the customer's line rental provider.
Orange help pages still refer to the Livebox when setting up broadband and include references to the Second Line[2].
ORANGE CUSTOMER SERVICES UK 22 AUGUST 2012 SAID:
Although it's true that we no longer offer the Secondline Service with our new broadband packages, those customers already using the service will be able to continue to do so.
If we can see from your account that you haven't used the service for more than 90 days, then our Head Office will close this for non-use. If you use this on a regular basis, however, your Secondline Service will remain active for as long as you wish to use this."
