The very one, yes. I was astonished when the barman said this to me. I bought a Britvic Orange and returned to my seat in disbelief ! They do pints of Peroni in there, which are obviously expensive, are great...so dare say I'll be in there again...!0 -

You'll go back??
To be honest, I think sometimes here (N.I. in general but particularly Belfast) we take poor customer service with little fuss. We even go back and reward the same places with our hard earned cash.
It's like some kind of sadomasochistic thing we seem to enjoy.
If a bar refused to serve me tap water, it’d be the last time I drank there.0 -

I agree with you Saverbuyer, I remember a person I know saying that they went for a meal out to a place and the food was horrible but at least the portions were big!!
The mad thing was I was the only person among about 20 that thought that comment was mental. Should also note that horrible food didn't put these people off the place.Norn Iron Club Member No 1270 -
Perhaps a bigger question is whether anyone should have to pay for clean, drinkable water full stop - after all, it's as necessary to survival as oxygen (although we'll expire a lot quick without oxygen )
Surely you cannot be serious? Do you know much much time, effort and equipment goes into processing, cleaning and piping water around the country?
Oxygen is freely available in the air, which we have to do nothing to purify etc.
Never thought I'd have to explain why water isn't free...0 -
Rather ashamedly, I ventured back to the above mentioned establishment last week as they have some pretty good drinks offers. Doubt I'll be there for a while, however, as the friend I was with let the drink affect him quite a wee bit. lol.

We've just been refused tap water in KFC kings lynn, due to a policy where "as we handle raw chicken, we are not allowed to give tap water"
I was a little shocked, as my 2 year old prefers water to other drinks...0 -

That is totally wrong....they would never be handling chicken in a KFC...:rotfl:Dave0 -
Just to say I am a member of a Social club under this Act. I am also a non drinker only have ever drunk tap water available from the club. I do however avail myself to the club in the annual club membership. I also buy snacks & occasionally buy drinks for others & bar staff from the bar. I buy bingo books & raffles to which the club also benefits from. My problem is that the club are not providing me free tap water anymore. From November they have only provided me with 1 pint of water per night. Now I thought under the new legislation that as they sell alcohol then they are duty bound to ensure that I am given water as requested under the mandatory conditions of their license. I feel that they are breaching the license. After complaining to the club they have taken a firm stance on this & will not provide me with any more despite dancing taking place on a Friday & Saturday. I then contacted my local authority on this issue & THEY ARE OF THE OPINION THAT THE CLUB IS PROVIDING ME WITH MY WATER ON REQUEST albeit 1 pint. THe also stated if everyone was like this then the club would be out of business & that the club provided bottled water. I fail to understand this when it is clearly stated in the licensing act. There is no quantity of water stated "only on request". stated in the act & I do not feel that I an being unreasonable here as I am a member of the club. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Oh forgot to add another Licensing authority does not agree with my local one !!! I have checked 73a & section 182 of these acts.0

Have still to work out if they bought the water they made my pot of tea with...
Just a quick update on this one
Was in just before Christmas. The couple at the next table had ordered tea/ coffee which they had drunk before their meal arrived
When asked if they needed anything else they asked for water. When told they had to pay they declined
Hubby passed comment on this to me so I told him about this thread.
None to quietly
Within minutes the boss gave the couple a bottle of water " on the house"0 -
Hi guys, does anyone know the law when it comes to free tap water in Airports? I mean the Airside one's here, Does the same law apply or would they be exempt as they are in 'No Mans Land' so to speak ... I'm not sure if the Airport itself has to provide it (and i doubt it) but the restaurants/bars inside, will they be subject to the same law?0
