How does this apply to concert venues, you know the places where they search your bags to ensure you have no water then charge you nearly two quid for a half litre bottle of water.

At first glance it would seem that they are also bound by this as they are licensed premises but can anyone confirm?

#1 I would have upped and left...
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • My family like the all you can eat Chinese buffet at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth but they always refuse to serve tap water. I always buy at least one drink each but we like water with our meals. I think the last time I went they charged £2.50, claiming it was filtered and that is all they have, I am not convinced on either point.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has been here and found the same?
  • I have a small take-away food kiosk. (unlicenced). If someone buys a 60p cup of tea and then asks me to fill up their 1litre plastic bottle with tap water (metered), is this fair and equitable? If someone asks for water "because I have to take a tablet", and they also expect me to provide the throwaway cup, is this OK too?
  • Is it right that Ryanair can refuse to provide free tap water please?

It's a long way for us to to travel for a meal. This is the Northern Ireland forum. Perhaps you would be best posting in the England forum for a better chance of a reply?

Well with the cost of the plumbing to the plane at 20,000 ft I suppose they have a right to charge a wee bit :rotfl:

Ryanair will charge for air soon if they can :o but much like other airlines they will charge for water as we would expect. Anytime I fly I always take a few bottles for the kids anyway so it negates paying airline prices.

Oh and I would rather walk than get into a Ryanair plane :o
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Starbucks and MacDonalds and the greasy spoon down the road would probably complain if you requested tap water there.

Haha, I used to work in McDonald's and we never said no to someone asking for tap water. Some people really took advantage and complained when we only gave them a small cup though. *sigh*

Places I've found free tap water -- Gourmet Burger, they have jugs with lemon/lime & mint in on the side, you just help yourself, Wagamama, they ask you if you want some with your meal without you saying - I was very pleased!, Costa have jugs of water available as well.

With regard to the Article/paragraph "Tap water meets health regulations." I would draw attention to press article regarding safety of bottled water and tap water. While regulations are met, it would seem that safety is more stringent with Tap water than bottled. I realize this is a Daily Mail article and stand ready for arguments to contrary!
And I CANNOT POST LINKS !!!!!!!!! So this has been a pointless bloody exercise

article can be found at dailymail. search, Bottled Water 'Less safe' than tap
