Would you like to tell us the full story instead of just the bits you want to tell?

    So have you called?
  • it was due on 9 september and you paid it today - so 4 days late?

So you are overdue but sending a debt collector round seems excessive, don't know about the legalities of the £55 but sounds iffy to me.

Sounds as if this has been escalating for some time. More background information needed.

How many months worth of arrears were on the 'bill' you received on the 3rd?
I say 'bill' because if it was just a usual quarterly bill then they still give you more like 14 days to pay and receive your discount, not just 6...
So, again, lets hear the rest of what's happened.
My experience of eOn is that they are very patient and helpful if you contact them.

I'm not defending the OP's alleged conduct but a (quick) perusal of E.ON terms and conditions online didn't reveal the visit charge though there is a section concerning "some" charges.

Further, neither is a relevant section illuminating...

What happens when bills are not paid or you don’t keep to your payment arrangement?
If you don’t pay your bill or keep to your payment arrangement we’ll insist that you have a prepayment meter fitted, where it’s safe and appropriate to do so. If you don’t agree to this, we’ll apply for a magistrate’s Warrant of Entry to install a prepayment meter or disconnect your energy supply. You’ll receive written notice seven calendar days before any action is taken, so you can still contact us and arrange payment. If, as a result of a Warrant of Entry being executed, your supply is disconnected or a prepayment meter is fitted, we’ll charge your account with an administration fee.

I more than happy to stand corrected by a more relevant quote.

The bill is paid - the OP paid it today, at work - why is he telling MSE, who can do nothing - why doesn't he call and tell the energy supplier?

I think its common practice for suppliers to state "additional charges" in the t&c's but not state the actual values. Very poor IMO.

Some suppliers have a seperate charges page though.

I guess its easily than releasing new t&c's which they would have to send out to all theirs customers.

OP my guess is that this bill has been outstanding for over 28 days, suppliers just don't send collectors our before. I take its a bill and another bill at a guess... as others have said you need to tell the full story
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Indeed, but does anybody have chapter and verse on where the posts claims on the visit and charge are described in E.ON terms?
