it states in the t&c's about recovery of reasonable costs when a bill remains unpaid. that's enough
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

We may charge you for any reasonable costs we incur as a result of your late payment or for recovering any money you owe.

    Where do I stand??

I paid my EON bill today whilst at work, I received my bill on the 3rd September.
Eon bill said to pay by 9th September and you will get 3% prompt payment discount and when I got in I had the following letter:-

We visited today to collect your payment of £xxxx.

    Hi john money

Home visits concerning outstanding balances are only carried out after a long period of non-payment.

Prior to this, we'll send a number of letters and make several phone calls to try to resolve the issue. These are in addition to the bills and reminders sent. Home visits are something of a last resort.

Have we always had your address/contact details correctly recorded? Have you received other correspondence from us?

Did the bill you've just paid include a previous balance?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to understand what might have happened here.

    Hi Malc,

I checked the bill and it had a previous outstanding amount on there which I totally forgot about, the previous amount was an estimate and I called EON about it and was going to call and give meter reading I never had reminders about it.
This bill I received now is also an estimate. The total of both amounts are £180.
I have been with EON for over 4 years and the details they have for me should be correct.

    Thanks John

Some suppliers say "immediately". In fact the very terms and conditions you quoted at me earlier says "payment is due immediately if we send you a bill".:D

No matter, the mention of "prompt payment discount" is not consistent with a bill containing an overdue element.

Even if you had totally forgot about the past missing payment...
Even if you didn't get a red reminder...
Even if you didn't get any other letter reminding you...
Even if you were not contacted by telephone (the supplier may not have an up to date telephone number for you on their records)
Even if you missed this carried over debt shown on the bill you received as recently as 03 Sepotember...

... surely the supplier would have explained this overdue payment if you had called them as requested on the letter they left when they came to collect this missing payment.
