omg the amount of spam on this thread is ridiculous!
I went to a bridal boutique in london, found the one i wanted then bought it online for 10% of the price:

The stiching was excellent quality, it has boning inside and no need for a bra as it has built in support, size was perfect. All for £120 inc postage and customs!
It's a copy of the W1 Pronovias dress:

Wow, really interesting thread (spam aside!).
Both myself and a friend of mine are getting married in the near future and we were just looking on eBay last night at the dresses. It certainly did seem too good to be true, but we've both figured that it's a risk that's worth taking; if it doesn't work out, we've only "wasted" £80 in her case and £66 in mine!
Believe me, I would like the perfect dress, but it seems silly to spend thousands on a dress that I'm only going to wear once. I'd much rather that money went on the party!
And at that price, I'm considering getting a short wedding dress made for the night-time bash (after first dance etc). Two dresses for the price of a standard veil!
Will let you know how it goes.0 -
When you buy a dress off eBay how so you know what size to go for? And can any highstreet bridal shop alter them?
I'm normally a size 12/14 but have found that some dresses in a 16 fit so I'd have no idea what size to look for and buy :rotfl:

Morning all,
I don't normally come on this thread so hope you don't mind me intruding?!
Just to say, I bought my wedding dress from ebay. I deliberately bought one size smaller so had no choice but to lose some weight to get in to it lol. But, I got an absolute bargain, I paid £99 for a dress that had never actually been worn, it was only used for a display at a bridal show and should have cost in the region of £900. Was sooo happy with it though!0 -

Thanks
Many of the eBay sellers offer a custom fit, so you give them your measurements. Some of them have this as an "extra" (about £30) but many include it in the original price.
I'm not sure that a high-street bridal shop would do any alterations to a dress they didn't supply, but there's plenty of other seamstresses out there who would be more than capable.0 -
Hi everyone, just wanted to add my story for anyone thinking about doing this! My dress arrived on Thursday from China, and I ordered it the Saturday before. I emailed them first with my measurements, they recommended a size and told me I could get a full refund if I wanted. I decided to go for it, the dress cost me £85. I am so thrilled with it! The detail of the embroidery is brilliant and the quality is so so good - my mum used to be a seamstress and she was very impressed. I really wasn't expecting much as it was from China and so cheap but thought I'd gamble...I'm so glad I did x0
