Hairdresser complaint

I decided to treat myself with some extra cash to a good haircut. I went to a place I used last year and loved how I ended up. However, this time I'm not at all happy with the cut. The colour is gorgeous but although I asked for choppy at the bottom of the back of hair she has hacked it to bits. The first layer is level with the top of my ear (cutting off lots of the lovely colour) then there are a couple of layers. It just won't style nicely at all.
When she showed me the back I did make a comment about it not being as expected but she just said it takes a while to get used to it. I've known that to be true before so thought I'd wait until I had done it myself. But no, I absolutely hate it.
I'm going to complain but would like to know the best way. Should I phone? Should I go in and risk facing the girl who cut it? Also, what should I be asking for: a full refund, partial refund (as the colour is nice)? I won't be going back there so don't want a gift card.

Hi there.. I`ve had many a salon mishap..
First at Toni & Guy when I had a colour and cut .. I`d took a picture in and asked them to do it like the picture.. it was nothing at all like it.. not even the colour .. so I got home and phoned up.. they were really nice about it and said to go back in and they would re-do it for me.
The second mishap, was at a local salon, where I went in for a half head of highlights and they turned me orange. On this occassion, they put it right for me, and gave me a refund and some products as my hair was very brittle from being bleached twice on the same day.
Phone up and explain that your not dissapointed and wondered if there was anything they could do... if your worried about there reaction just say that you feel uncomfortable about phoning, but wanted to get it sorted out.
Good luck xDebt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
I phoned and the manager wants me to go in so I'm going to go in on Thursday.OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090

I had a similar thing happen recently. Went in for a colour...I asked for something bright and vibrant, explained that I am not affraid of colour and that the stylist could really "go for it". I wanted black and red (not everyones cup of tea I know but I havent outgrown my goth stage yet
) I came out with brown with a tiny hint of red. The stylist could see I wasnt happy and said "we can do it a bit brighter next time". I payed alot of money for the colour and went home thinking "why should I have to go back in 6 weeks and pay out again to have what I asked for in the first place??" So I went back the same day and they were great. Redid it with lovely rich red slices of colour. I was really nervous about complaining, but they couldnt have been more helpful.
Good Luck!!2008 gig list... Nickelback + Staind (OMG...Staind ROCKED!!), Roger Waters, Infadels, Pendulum, The Police, K T Tunstall, Breed 77, Biffy Clyro....oh, and Motorhead0 -
I wanted to be blonde all over and the brown bits turned orange. I went back to complain and they said 'orange, yeah right!' so I showed them and all they did was whack more bleach on which made the orange lighter. i asked for my money back - they refused, so I threatened them with trading standards and they couldnt have been nicer to me!Come on baby, in our dreams we can live on misbehaviour.
I can see the carrot at the end of the tunnel0 -
I thought my hair looked straight in the salon, but when i got home it didn;t and some of my layers are shorter than others
but - guts, - I thought they would say that i should have noticed while I was there?0 -
Easier than I thought. He wasn't totally accepting that it was a bad cut but said I should be happy with how they style my hair. Said it must have been a misunderstanding (no idea how she can confuse middle of my hair with the bottom!) and he could smooth it out, give me a partial refund or I could get it all done again once it's grown.
I did take the gift card for a full cut and colour as long as it was the girl that did my hair the first time.
So, I'd advise anyone who gets a rubbish haircut to go in and complain!OD Girls On TourBarcelona 2008 - Dublin 20090 -

I think Sammz meant she wanted the girl who cut her hair the first time, last year. Not the girl who done it this time.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
I love having my hair cut. It's 30 mins of utterly inane drivel once a month. Keeps me sane...0
