Five Star Cars - Watchdog

BBC were clutching straws in this episode.[/QUOTE]
I can't even watch Watchdog for the obvious BBC bias....0 -
I didnt think 5 start were that bad to be honest.
No? Would you care to tell that to our family friend who has still not been refunded by them?
Over a month ago they bought a car from 5* and it broke down on the way home on the M25 with a failed head gasket. 5* AGREED to take the car back and fully refund it.
Over a month later with solicitors being involved 5* are still refusing to pay up a penny. We don't even know if they still have the car or not.
I suspect they've already resold it judging by the missing logbook issues highlighted on the program. Our family friend still has the logbook for the car.I didnt think 5 start were that bad to be honest.
Care to give our family friend £2.5k then? - We'll give you the V5 and ownership of the car and you can sort it out with 5*.BBC were clutching straws in this episode.
On the contrary, I think YOU are clutching at straws trying to defend yourself and your 5* company on this forum. It's clearly obvious you're trying to defend ripping people off so you must be something to do with them. I've had first hand dealings with this company as I stated on page one yet you're trying to say they're not that bad and its the BBC? - You're part of 5*, no-one else would defend them or their owner refusing to give refunds on national TV.0 -
I bought a car from 5 star cars about a month ago and im wondering whether my car really is hpi clear as they said..... ive had to repair various faults on it despite the man saying it was roadworthy ... could someone offer me help here?0

HPI just tells you it's (probably) not stolen, has no outstanding finance, and hasn't been in a (reported) accident. Doesn't tell you anything about it's condition.0 -
I especially enjoyed that bit!
I didnt think 5 start were that bad to be honest. In the end the car did get MOT'd. The only faults they could pick out were:
-Bumper hanging off. Obviously not so bad that it failed the MOT so no problem of 5 stars. When the BBC bought the car they knew it's condition along with the bumper.
-No stereo. Again why does this matter? buyer was happy when he looked at the car.
-a few knocking noises. Obviously if it passed the MOT it is roadworthy. Bushes can be ruined and a car can still pass an MOT as long as the part is not as risk of falling off. If the buyer is happy at time of purchase then so be it.
-No V5. BBC didnt say they couldnt have applied for it from DVLA. If something was dodgy about this they would have mentioned it. A real buyer could easily apply.
5 star did say the car was in good condition and they were right in their opinion. Bad condition ones are in the scrap yard and not on the road.
On top of that at the end they said when they wanted a refund, 5 star would only give them it once they had the v5. Who wouldnt?! any dealer wouldnt accept a car without a v5! they would be liable to all of the owners parking tickets, speeding fines since they had the car. They dont even have to give a refund in the first place but they still agreed to!
The guy at the start with the Seat Ibiza sounded like he just needed his wheels balanced or new wheels at worst if they were warped. It was a bit over the top scrapping an 06 plate ibiza which would have had an MOT!
Things I have seen in the trade have been a lot worse. In the MOT if you can see it you cant fail it. Fiberglass and grease over what would usually fail like rusty sills and brake lines. There are plenty of traders out there in this horrible climate which are desperate to make a quick buck and many will do a lot worse than that.
BBC were clutching straws in this episode.
Have you just come back from the pub or something?
These people just do not care and they are probably laughing their socks off right now because they have over £2000 of our money.
It is scandal that they are continually allowed to trade, they should be imprisoned for fraud and deception.
Many people get imprisoned for much less!0 -

The person you quoted IS FROM 5 star cars. That is why they are defending them.
Family friend has lost over £2k with them (for all I know it could actually be you!) and is in the same boat as you. Very bad company.

All those annoyed by 5 Star and affected by them should also contact the HMRC Tax Evasion Hotline:
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/tax-evasion/hotline.htm
It would also be a shame if someone dumped 30 tonnes of rocks outside his gates.... every day....The man without a signature.0 -
They sell a car without a V5 - and then claim later no V5 no refund!
Crooks need to be jailed asap0 -
In fairness to TamA, I don't think he is Servet in discuss, if you think about it, when joining MSE it asks you for a username. Anyone who saw Watchdog would know that he would not want to answers MSE's request for a username.
If he was to join and MSE asked for a username, surely he would have joined as "Itsnotimportant"0
