Rather than give out 2,000 codes, MSE should have released 1,000 codes and then if any were unused, offered the remaining. I have a code and am getting the same message as people above. I wish Sky would just say 'Offer expired' rather than implying there is a technical error.

    This all seems very unlikely.

I doubt very much that 1,000 deals could be processed in 7 minutes. Plus, I entered my code pretty much immediately - no later than 16:05 - and got the message that the offer checker wasn't working.

If all the deals have been taken up, why, even now, does the Sky website say the offer checker (still) isn't working?

I agree. I was on the Sky site with my code by no later than 1604.
The MSE link to the offer page still works - that should be removed if all the deals have genuinely gone.

I've been thinking about getting Sky for a while and this offer was good enough to tempt me to sign up for the full TV package, normally £55.50 a month. I'm sure that if I'd signed up on this deal, after a year I'd have continued with Sky.
As it is now, Sky aren't getting me as a new customer at all because something isn't right about this...I'm not normally cynical, but I'm very very sceptical about this one...

Edited to add = just seen post #31. It was the right thing to do to remove the link although the Sky page with the MSE exclusive still loads.
  • So are MSE going to put the 'Sky Link' for this deal back on the MSE page so we can enter the codes we've got..........or am I missing something?

This is exactly what I was thinking.

It's interesting to note that not one single poster to this thread has said, so far, that they were successful in getting the deal. If 1,000 MSEers DID get the deal, I would have thought that at least one would have read this thread and posted.

Still not working for me :(
  • I don't believe a word that 1000 offers went. I saw the whole MSE go-live from it saying to check back at 4pm, through it having a placeholder sky link or something similar while they made one failed attempt to put the link up at about 4.02, through to it having the genuine code generator on the page about a minute or so later.

I used the code generator within seconds of it going up, went to the Sky page, and the Sky page failed with errors telling me to call Sky. It's been like that ever since. So the story about selling out in 7 minutes is complete hogwash - for the errors to be due to it selling out, it would have had to sell out in more like 7 seconds. And it didn't, of that I'm sure.

Like 1000 people could get through to an advisor at Sky within 15 minutes let alone 7!! Sounds like Sky don't have a clue what is going on.

I know I was rushing to post and missed to put ;) for my sarcasm.

Yeah me too, been thinking about getting it for ages and i'm now very sceptical.....I mean if 1000 people had been successful surely at least 1 would've said by now??
  • Sky is looking at this again - I'll update you here.
