I'm afraid my juicer is at least 9 years old HDK, but good try anyway:p

Regarding your HD question, I honestly have no idea I'm afraid.

Decided would really like kindle fire for birthday. (yes lap top is ordered but thats a family thing, anyway Lula has her bags and NP her juicer)
anyway questions folks please..... HD is a lot more, is it worth the extra cost? do you think the price will come down again soon? Was thinking of using tcb money.

    Pick me!!

Kindle Fire - no camera. No physical volume buttons. Speakers for sound are located at top, and designed to be used in portrait mode, so if using it in landscape all the sound will be coming out one end. Most normal users won't notice it. Low memory space, 5.5GB after OS and basic apps are on it. Kindle Fire has smaller 'border' so looks less clunky.

HD - More storage space ( I think basic one is 16GB), bigger screen, and better resolution so good for films, videos, etc. Has physical volume controls. Speakers on opposite ends, designed for landscape use.

Both of these: Unless it's changed, don't normally come with mains charger, you have to get that separately. No option to plug in SD card to expand storage. Again (unless changed) lock screen displays adverts unless you pay a bit extra for model without. Both are roughly 400g, which doesn't sound like a lot but is heavy for long use compared to iPad/mini/Galaxy Nexus. Both run on Android so may not be all apps if you are used to Apple products. Both have pretty decent battery power ~5 hours playing video online.

    Sorry, was at work.

Nexus has slightly longer battery in tests, roughly 8 hours compared to Kindle 6/7. Nexus still doesn't have SD card slot, so its memory is just internal. Nexus runs off latest version of Android, and the processor is a wee beast, so basically it will load pages etc faster. Runs from Google Play store, and has access to Amazon things also.

What format are your books currently in? Are they all just from Amazon? The screen resolution between Fire HD and Nexus is the same. Kindle has sliiightly better camera.

Also, what format is OU website? Are you looking at PDFs a lot? Do you know if it uses Flash?

And what's the price difference between the Nexus and Fire HD if you don't mind me asking?

Lap top has actually arrived. just home from work and DH job was to rebook delivery slot for next week and he'd sorted it, put phone down, knock on door, lappy arrived. Haven't undone box yet as needed to ebay check then now nipping for a bath... building the tension....so PJs first then box opening.

Calfuray.. thanks for this - appreciate. I have only looked at kindle and kindle hd in terms of price as still scoping, current amazon prices are 129 and 199 but have friend who paid 99 a couple of months ago so wonder if price may drop??. Hadnt looked at nexus but definitely open to suggestions. my old ereader was a cheapy binatone read me, and i bought discs and loaded through my lap top. My ou is pdf docs or word. Muchas gracious.

Right nipping into bath, my return via new lappy..

I am so impressed that you are hanging out to open it - I'm not quite so patient - would have been right in the box as soon as it came through the door - well done and have fun :j
