  • Was a bit slovenly and left my washing out, as dripping wet. Probably brought down the tone of the neighbourhood.

Feeling less grumpy but set the tone of the day early by taking paracetamol, brufen and cod liver oil before left for work. Was nearly human by time arrived.

  • Finished my draft with all the data yesterday. Just want a mate to read to ensure no obvious blatent errors then I can submit.
In light of this, I have cleared the pile of uni papers into the recycling bin, very therapeutic. Kept a few bits but "stored" these".

Have sorted my travel insurance via TCB
Also applied for visas, very nearly using a "private" site so went to MSE and went via their link.

Still have car rental, park tickets, car parking etc to do. But already overdrawn (have put on cc) but felt like wanted to do some bits, so will wait now till next month.

If feeling grumpy, just remember that ^^, you are nearly done! So when you get done with night shift hopefully you can rest up with a well deserved cup of tea(/wine!) :)
  • Thanks C. I haven't been too bad, although tea was waffles, battered fish and beans, not quite Ed's level of cuisine... DD1, the only person I saw this morning commented how rough I looked.

Must be getting colder, 3 cats in the lounge. All washing.

  • After shockingly bad week at work, have given myself a good talking to on my way home on Friday and decided need to take a big deep breath and need to get on with it with a smile on my face. Everything else (apart from my weight) is going well, so I need to count my blessings and deal with the issues in an orderly manner.
    So in order to do so, had a look at what aspects I can control, so;
1.reduction of study stress so I have spent last night and this morning finishing assignment and have submitted!! That's it, done, finished.
    2. Quality Family time and something to look forward too. Have booked theatre tickets for November.
    3. Need to look at how I structure my working week as I think at the moment we are all suffering from my excessive hours and I have always tried to ensure that doesn't happen
    4. Clear the decks. Have a master plan for Monday in order to "change" things. It involves chucking some monkeys off my back and using my time differently.

Also need now need a new project now finished studying, so perhaps start decorating lounge after pay day next week.

  • Thanks Brizzle. Need to get my work life balance back and fast.

Just watched X factor with the girls and now have a glass of wine (nine oclock..) Is it me, or is Gary Barlow just mean? Not sure why I watched it but nice to sit with kids. DH watching something else in other lounge.

  • Hi HelenDaveKids

I will be following your diary as our stories are similar. We too were mortgage free four years ago and then moved into our forever home with a mortgage around £100k. My aim is to have this beast paid off by Aug 2016, so our end dates are similar too.

I have two kids, work full time and I think I have got the work life balance thing completely wrong. But my earnings are making a huge difference to our over payments and it is only for a short time really. Our kids are protected as much as possible from the impact of two parents working full time (I work flexibly so mum can still them to school a couple of days a week) so it is only really my mental health that's in danger of being permanently damage, although I'm sure DH will say I am already a lost cause:D

You're right about having things to look forward to with the family and taking control to reduce stress.

Good luck on your journey, the end really is in sight and congratulations on making such a huge over payments already this year.
