She does have something on her tail which the groomer spotted last time we went - last Bank Holiday, 27th August.
Vet said it is a burst sabacous (spelling) cyst but last time I saw an ortho vet not the dermatologist one that we saw before and I was not convinced that is what it is.
Sayiong that, she started this limping business well after the groomer spoted and pointed that thing on her tail to me.
Can not wait for Saturday... thanks Zaksmum...0 -

Anal glands were checked at the vets last week.
Slipped disc would be more painful I believe.
She acts normal, wants to go out.. when she "trots" nothing shows but when she walks this leg is terrible...
Nothing I can do till Saturday though, no point taking her to local vets, will have to wait for the FP visit and Xrays there
I thought you were going to vets on monday not sat?
TBH I would take her back to your normal vets in the meantime, it could still be her anal glands making her carry her tail like that. They can fill up very quickly. The lameness may or may not be conected to the surgery. Gsds are prone to spinal probs too my old girl had both hip dysplasia and spondylosis of spine, but the only time she carried her tail like that was when she had full anal glands. Hope you get her sorted. Good luck.0 -
Changed the appointment for Saturday, closer than Monday.
FR will Xray her and we will know what is gfoing on, only 1k left insurance till end of October so can not really afford to take her to 2 different vets for the same thing.0 -
Zara was walkimng almost ok yesterday and same this morning.
Just spoke to dog walker and she was fine on her mid day walk.
So - not post op, not related to the operation - possibly just a muscle strain/soft tissue problem as my primary care vet suspected.
Cancelled FR for Saturday, booked her at my vets for Tuesday evening (ortho to check her leg after 2 weeks metacam as agreed at last visit)) and Thursday (dermatologist to check her skin as has a big ugly looking cyst at the back of the leg she was/still is a bit limping on)0 -

If she has a cyst on her tail and on her leg, could she have been biting at them? Or licking excessively at them?
Do you know they are definitely cysts?0 -
She is not biting and/or licking - not that I can see her doing or or any evidence of it.
Sebacaus (speling??) cysts, she was seen by dermatologist vet already and that is what he diagnosed, booked an appointment for her to see ortho vet (the one we seen 2 weeks ago on Tuesday) and dermatologist vet on Thursday.
The place where the cyst is on the back of her leg and the way it looks - may well be the reason for the limping.
Dermatologist had no slots till Wednesday, ortho no slots till Thursday - I booked the closes ones possible but also asked them to call me if there are any cancellations on Mon-Tue as I am off those 2 days.0 -

Well keep us informed, won't you? Hope Zara's ok.0 -
The muzzle came today - seems way too big for Zara...... sigh....
Off for a walk with a friend and her 2 GS in about an hour, one of them people agressive and always in a muzzle so friend has some experience with muzzles will try the muzzle on properly for Zara and see if she thinks it is correct size.
It has a loop on the bottom which I assume is to go over the collar to keep it in place but Zara's collar is one of those pull over the head one so does not open which means can not attach the loop onto the collar.....
Will see how we get on and update later....
Thanks a lot0 -
Oh dear - definitely too big,,,,
and it came from Switzerland - with return address to a PO Box in Willenhall..... wherever that is? Wv1 9WW, I assume that is UK but returning to a PO Box? Hmmmm0 -
Ah, ok - they offer exchange...

will try one size down...
Took a week for the muzzle to be delivered... how long will it take for an exchange?0
