esson1 - to clarify - do you mean 'real Soarview' from a southern transmitter?0

My LG Freeviw HD TV wouldnt pick up RTE1/2 when i did a rescan on Wed (BT27)
However, setting the "region" to Ireland rather than UK gave me all the Saorview channels plus the usual FreeviewHD channelsThe Daily Mail

I have a LG television with built in HD Freeview and a single aerial. I retuned on Wednesday and got all the usual channels. RTE1, 2 and TG4 are now listed on the menu and indeed each have a channel number. However when the TV either attempts to show programs it either stops afer a second or two, or else it displays no signal. There are no such problems with any of the other stations and I now receive HD quality channels. I live in Crossgar. Anyone any solutions please.0

Sounds like the TV is incompatible - it needs to be mpeg4 dvb T2 capable, many are just mpeg4 dvb T0

Pin should be the default 0000 worked for me
I did a complete reset and asked the TV to only scan for digital channels, rather than digital and analogue in the past. Set my region as UK (or NI can't remember which it asked for) rather than Ireland but still get all the Saorview channels (800-817)I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

BigAl94, sheerdelight says he has a TV with Freeview H built in. This means he would have a DVB-T2 tuner.
sheerdelight, the picture break up may be because of poor signal. You may be getting your main channels from a main transmitter but the RTE channels may be coming from a relay.0 -
I think there is a lot of confusion about HD, Freeview HD, DVB-T, DVB-T2, Mpeg2 and Mpeg4. Please read the table on this link to see what is required for either Freeview, Freeview HD, Saorview or the NIMM ( The NI RTE Mux )
http://www.ukfree.tv/fullstory.php?storyid=1107052031
In addition, note that having an "HD" Tv is not the same as Freeview HD. Your "HD" tv refers to the resolution capabilities of the TV and has nothing to do with the broadcast protocols as identified in the table.
I don't know about other areas, but if you receive your main signal from Divis, then the NIMM is broadcast from Black Mountain which is close to Divis, but a different transmitter none the less. I do not know what power levels Black Mountain uses but what I can say is ;
Reception of the NIMM for me is less than half the signal compared to that from Divis ( currently 36% compared to 80% on my Humax ).
I run my incoming signal through a variable booster which then feeds a loftbox. If I adjust the booster to a point where the the incoming Divis signal is only 60% then the NIMM almost disappears. This could be happening to some of the earlier posters here.
There is 2 degree difference between Black Mountain and Divis for me, so my signal might improve with a slight adjustment.
Reception of Saorview for me from Clermont Carn is now possible with a standard indoor aerial, due to the greatly increase power output there.
I am aware of people in Lisburn receiving Saorview from Clermont Carn using an indoor amplified aerial. If you had a working rooftop RTE aerial before, then if your TV or Freeview, ( or Saorview of course ) is capable of DVB-T and Mpeg4, you should get the FULL channel list inc TV3 from the South.
I can receive Saorview via the indoor aerial on my LG TV which doesn't have DVB-T2, just DVB-T + MPEG4. The same TV cannot receive the NI RTE mux ( NIMM ) because it doesn't have DVB-T2.
I can receive the NIMM from Black Mountain on my Humax Freeview HD box because it is capable of decoding DVB-T2 and Mpeg4.
Still confused - see the table above again.0 -
Sheerdelight - yes this depends on the quality of this 'single aerial' you have. Is it on the roof, in your roofspace, pointing the right way, or on top of your TV?
esson1 - OK. If you received a weak analogue signal from the southern transmitter, it's unlikely that the digital signal will work. You're quite far away from the border! If you really want it you'll need to get an aerial pro in to advise on installing a big expensive aerial.
Excellent info from jtk174 - the Soarview signal can get as far as Lisburn!0
