agreed innovate. but it's DDs that are required, for Halifax Rewards, for example.
i am currently using Tesco Internet Saver, but if i could i would use another Building Society alongside Monmouthshire. I looked at the start of the thread to see if there was another BS i could use.
i also use CitySave CU, but they only allows 3 DDs to be set up at any one time.0 -
Trying to set up some new DDs for my Santander account but have found quite a few charities on the list the DD minimum is £2/month.Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.
Take time but don't waste time0 -
That is excellent news, stops people from benefitting on the back of charities.0

Is anyone else having trouble with Tesco Bank?
Internet Saver opened online six weeks ago. Setting up a direct debit to pull money from a Santander 123 account was part of the application process and is working.
Opened a second Santander 123 account but could not set up another direct debit with Tesco Bank because Tesco Bank have a technology problem that prevents them from setting up security questions on the account which has the knock on effect of them not sending out the temporary registration letter for online banking and no telephone banking either.
Opened a second Tesco Bank Internet Saver account by telephone which solved the problem of enabling another direct debit pulling money from the second Santander 123 account. But the same technology problem happened so no online banking or telephone banking or access to this second Tesco Bank account either.
The managers at Tesco Bank so far have no idea how to resolve the situation.
The Santander requirement of two direct debits per account is covered by direct debits with Yorkshire Building Society (old Egg customer). Tesco and Yorkshire are the only two that allow multiple direct debits as far as I know.0 -
I had a note in the post from Tesco to say that they are changing the T&Cs of their Internet Saver Account in a few weeks to no longer accept deposits via Direct Debit. Having said that their web page still says you can deposit via DD. I might call and complain. Anyone else got this or did I mis-read it?0

I received new Tesco Bank Internet Saver terms and conditions to be effective from 2nd April 2014. As far as I can see the Direct Debit facility is still there.
"Payments into your Account"
"Regular or one off payments can be made by setting up a Direct Debit via Online Banking or, if you need to, by calling us on 0845 678 5678. You'll need your Tesco Bank security details to do this"
dfurn, where do you see that they will "no longer accept deposits via Direct Debit" please?0 -
Following on from my post #235 in this thread, it transpires that the IT problem at Tesco Bank is affecting more people. They now say that the problem is a major one that involves writing some new code that will not be rolled out until April. Until then, those affected have no security details, no online banking, no telephone banking, and no access to the account. Unbelievable!0

Perhaps you should read it again...this time slowly?0 -
Apologies everyone; I've obviously mis-read.0

Hi all
my santander esaver account has matured, which is fine as only using it for the DD for halifax, however have noted the account has changed name in the last couple of days to everyday saver, has this one happened to any one else and did they continue to claim the DD after? (as i thought the esaver account was the only one you could set up a DD on?)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0
