Hi WW well done on the grocery savings. I hope your massage was nice and relaxing

Yesterday I managed to walk to the local table top sale and have a rummage. I love sales and car boot sales. I was very good and only spent 20p !! I bought a very cute tiny ceramic hedgehog - it just called out to me
.... I don't normally have [STRIKE]dustcatchers[/STRIKE] ornaments !
Friend came back to mine for coffee & chat after and I lent her a couple of DVD's. We regularly lend one another DVD's and books, its good way to save money. I also managed to get the kitchen bin beached and floor washed and cleaned the bathroom. 2 loads of washing dried on line before the rain started about 4pm. So a fairly productive day...
Then I snoozed on and off for the rest of the afternoon
whilst catching up on some recorded tv. DS got home about 6.30pm and we had easy tea of frozen stuff chucked in oven
I've made a list of things I need to sort out over the next few weeks as he leaves college / has his 18th birthday / starts work
1. ring tax credits once DS has left college
2. ring Child Benefit
3. ring council tax (will lose my single person discount )
4. ring house insurance to update policy as currently 1 adult and 1 child under 18 (hope they don't charge me for this!)
5. see doctor - prescription tax credit exemption runs out so need to see doctor about leg and see if I qualify for prescription exemption due to diabetes
6. phone dentist - rearrange appointment for DS made before he got his job to a time that he can attend after work.
Apart from list making I am being very lazy today. Despite being awake since 5am I am still in bed.
Have had breakfast and cup of tea but apart fom that I CBA today
I've done a meal plan for next week and will be going to Ald! tomorrow. I must try and only spend £30 this week, it should be possible as we still have some bits and bobs in freezer
Hope you are all having a good sunday. Sanch... hows things with you? Hope you are busy getting a grip and having a fab social life

The massage was fab thanks Skint. Although the quite scary Eastern European therapist is very honest and speaks her mind - apparently I have toxic calves and water retention :rotfl:The calf thing is from standing too much during the day and Toxins building up - not a lot I can do about that. Water retention is due to me being super duper hormonal - I'm at the horrible stage of feeling rubbish and waiting for things to happen. All fat, sore and fed up.
I also have a sore throat and headache - flipping cold! You couldn't plan it better - as soon as I have a proper weekend off I get ill.
Just dragged myself around the shops to try to find something to wear to this do on Friday - no joy. Just got fed up with being too old for a lot of the clothes and too young for the rest! Ended up buying a bargain pair of jeans and some 3 for 2 make up just to have something to bring home with me! Will have to make do with something I already have.
I'll have to plod around the streets in the pouring rain with the dog later (he hates the rain too) and then cook something nice for tea. I'm hoping good food, vitamins and cold and flu tablets will miraculously cure me by bed time!
Think I'll slather on the tinted moisturiser stuff later so will hopefully wake up tomorrow looking less like death warmed up and more semi-bronzed goddess. (Somehow doubt it though!).0 -
Hi Everyone
Well Skint I am trying to get a grip, think I am finally getting there.
Been quite busy the last couple of weeks what with one thing and another. Felt more like myelf I have to say as if I am honest I think Ive gone a bit downhill over the last couple of months and let alot of thing slide.
I got down I reckon just before Christmas when a couple of upsetting events happened and instead of dealing with stuff I just let it get worse and drag on. Talking to friends the last couple of weeks has helped me alot, helped me to put things into perpective. Think I am sorted now and I feel alot better. Thank goodness for our friends eh.
So, Im in a more positive frame of mind. Finally admitted to myelf too that I dont like my job but in your forties its not so easy to make changes is it, especially in the present economic climate. Thought I might look for a little job on the side, something community related or do some volunteering. I am going to make some enquiries.
Financially I am sorted, like u Skint I have done a financial spring clean and got my bills down to the bare minimum. Now I need to kickstart my social life properly and decide what to do about the bl**dy gym! Whether to sign up at the posh place or just rejoin the local leisure centre and just use the pool! Decisions decisions eh.
Hope everyone who reads has had a nice weekend and that you feel better tomorrow WW. Sounds like you have been under alot of pressure lately, just be kind to yourself chuck .... its not always easy I know.
Bye for now Grippers X0 -
Sanch!! Great to see you back! We missed you xx
Good to hear that you are in a better frame of mind - you're right, we don't always recognise how hard things are until we come out the other end. Good luck with the socialising thing - I need to relaunch myself on the social scene too!
Feel much better today - period has started and thats like a cloud lifting (physically and emotionally) and my sore throat is a bit better thankfully.
Not had a bad day at work so for once I feel quite relaxed in the evening
I will do some exercise other than dog walking tomorrow - its NO EXCUSE TUESDAY!!! Anybody else with me?:)0 -
Hi ww correct me if im wrong but i thought ages ago you were going to meet up with a old flame as friends but then he couldnt make it well have you not heard no more from him and if ive made a mistake then sorry lol0

Hi Kitty - that sort of fizzled out, he couldn't make the weekend we'd arranged due to an ill family member and it never got rearranged.
Had a good day food wise so far today - had 7 portions of F&V and done some exercise so will expect to have lost half a stone by tomorrow.
Good news from work - there's a probable promotion for the new academic year for me :j Not counting my chickens just yet but I've been told its more or less a formality and the job is pretty much mine if I want it. I've also been put on the accelerated leadership program with asking for it
Scary but exciting stuff! Will mean more money too but its not clear exactly how much yet.
Having a rest tonight - bit of telly and feet up.0 -

Good luck with the promotion WW, they must think highly of you if they have already put you on the accelerated leadership program. More money is great, is it much more work / responsibility ?
Sanch, great to hear you are doing so well too. You sound in a much more positive place at the moment. I agree it helps to have good friends too. Community volunteering is a great idea, helps to make local contacts and looks good on the CV !

Just a quickie - off out to the school Ofsted celebration booze up tonight so better get cracking with the titivation.
The maxi dress I ordered as an emergency outfit from Next last night has arrived so will try that on - looks ok on the hanger.
Good news I've lost 1lb - still feel like a lump of lard though....
Right better get on with the scrubing and Polyfilla!0 -
Hope you had a great time WW and not too hung over today
I am sure you looked fabulous !
Am feeling rather like a lump of lard myself at the moment.
but am determined to get on with things, SO....plans for the weekend
1. attack the jungle back garden and cut the grass now that the bluebells have finished flowering ... they come up in the edge of the lawn which now resembles a meadow
2. wash the downstairs windows outside... front and back. In reality this will be a quick once over with long handled sponge & quick wipe down with window squeegee thing but at least I will be able to see outside again
3. go clothes shopping for myself on sunday morning. If I go early I wont have to stand around in queues
4. some sewing/mending to do. one Bra broke this week - why do the underwires poke through at the most inconvenient times ! but should be able to fix it
Got a friend coming round this evening, and although I still cannot drink I will just enjoy the company, chat and a few laughs
I am comfort eating at the moment and berating myself so must get a grip ! Mind you some of the side effects of these tablets are increased hunger and weight gain

Hungover....
I am definitely too old for boozing and dancing these days!
A quiet day recovering is on the cards - not looking or feeling very fab - but I had a fab time (I think!):rotfl:0
