  • 40's are the new 30's!! ;) Happy belated birthday and remember that all the good stuff you have managed recently has been in your 40's.....would you have had that amount of belief in what you want and the persistence to get it in your 30's??? (I say this as a 44 year old....love my forties, finally got my head together!!:o)

You have done brilliantly over the past few months and acheived so much... well done you!!! :D :T

  • Thankyou both!
You're right icontinuetodream - all the good stuff has happened since I turned 40 - that's a really positive way to think.
My thirties were a bit rubbish really so onwards and upwards!
Going to focus on me for a change, not pleasing everyone else.

All packed and ready to go to Wales - the dog has even had a good brush and looks a bit more presentable even though he still looks like a stuffed balding cushion in places (due to being shaved in a very mysterious pattern by the vet). He's desperate for a haircut but his illness put pay to that - as soon as places are open again in the new year he's off for a makeover - the groomer will have a fit!

Back from Wales and 3 days and nights with the family - I love them to bits but its nice to be home.

Got loads more pressies than I was expecting so that was a nice surprise and all things that I will use/like.

Have eaten way too much over the past 3 days and feel fat and bloated :( but I did manage to go for a run on Xmas Day morning so I suppose that's a small positive. I'm allowing myself today to settle back in at home, eat some goodies then start afresh tomorrow with a diet and exercise regime after weighing myself in the morning.

So in order to make myself do something in the rest of the holidays here's the plan....
    • Get back on MFP and log cals and exercise - think I'll go for 1250 cals a day until I reach my goal (don't know what that is until I weigh tomorrow )
    • Do some exercise in addition to dogwalking every day for the next 10 days
    Will plan Fri - Tues...
    Fri - swimming
    Sat - 5k run
    Sun - swimming
    Mon - 5k run
    Tues - exercise DVD/run

Let's see how long I can stick to that for! :p

Right, today is the day to get a grip on eating and exercise. I've just weighed and its not good , although I think some of it is water retention as its hormone time for me and will hopefullly drain away over the next few days.
Either way, I feel swollen and bloated and have definitely overindulged.:o

Before Xmas I'd managed to gain a lb in the run up and it looks like a few more have crept on (water or not) so its time to tackle it before it gets out of hand. Ideally, I'd like to lose another 7lbs - the ones that have stealthily arrived and a few more - I'd then be the lightest I've even been as an adult. But I want to do it properly, like I did before, with sensible food, plenty of exercise and using www.myfitnesspal.com

So, I'm off to the shops this morning to get some nice fruit and veg, will walk the dog on a nice long route and hopefully go swimming (no-one answering the phone there so I'm hoping its not shut).
The Xmas goodies are going in a carrier bag in the attic - sellotaped shut - and will be taken in to school when I'm back.

Ladies - feel free to join the Woofer boot camp! If I wait until after New Year I'll do even more damage:rotfl:

Well, it appears the swimming pool is shut or no-one's answering the phone anyway so rather than be deterred I've just got back from a 5k run:jActually still feel ok so may do some other form of exercise later too.
Been to the greengrocers and bought 2 carriers full of fruit and veg and some nice free range local eggs so I have no excuses for not eating healthily now.

Going to have a nice bath with some new smellies now and de-stinkify myself:p

    ETA....
I've rejoined the grocery challenge too - £125 for January (£25 a week starting today). I talked myself out of going to Mr T's today and spent £8.18 in the greengrocers and £8.33 in B&M on dog food, pop, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and breakfast bars. I don't think I need anything else until next weekend so hopefully have made a good start on the challenge.

Just rung the sofa company to pay off the bill before the interest free period comes to an end and, the cheek of it, they wanted a 4% charge to pay by CC!!!!! An extra £40!!!:mad:
I ended up putting it on my debit card and quickly tramsferring the cash saved across to it - still a charge of £3 but nowhere near as bad.

I also called the old elec company that still owe me £50 and promised to pay it into my account over a month ago and the payment hadn't gone through - a mystery why apparently:mad:Believe that you'd believe anything. I've requested a cheque in the post ASAP so they can't have any excuses with banking again.

The good news is that the sofas are paid now and I'll get an extra £50 eventually but why do companies make it so hard?????

Just thinking about a meal plan for the next week using up things that are in and minimal spending on groceries.

    Dinners
    1. leftover quiche to finish up, new pots and salad
    2. quorn sausages, sweet potato wedges, peas
    3. quorn chicken and leek pie, broccoli and new potatoes
    4. baked potato with beans and cheese
    5. omelette
    6. chick pea curry (from freezer) and rice
    7. veggie mince spag bol (in freezer)

    Lunches
I'm not working next week so can use stuff up that need a toaster or microwave
    1. bag of bagels
    2. tomatoes/scrambled egg/beans on toast
    3. noodles
Fruit - bananas, grapes, satsumas, apples, pomegranate

    Breakfasts - bananas, breakfast bars

Think that all I'll need to buy is a few tins of beans and tomatoes, a bit of extra fruit and some squash (and dog food).
Hmmm, let's see if I can stick to it....

    Hey WW,

seem to keep bumping into you on the forums so I thought I'd [STRIKE]stalk you[/STRIKE] catch up with your thread properly. I'm envious of home much energy you seem to have after a day of teaching. It leaves me absolutely pooped!

I could do with joining your boot camp. Feel free to give me a swift kick up the bum when you see me round the boards :D

Hope you're enjoying the hols. Scary how quick they go, isn't it? So much to do, so little time...

    Hello pavlov!
I'm not always a bundle of energy, especially after a long day with 300 teenagers!
Got about 50 books to mark in the boot of the car and a ton of planning to do so better get cracking soon.

Off dog walking in a minute as the weather seems to have temporarily calmed down (its awful here today). Then I'm going swimming - will force myself, I always enjoy when I'm there.

Feel less bloated today and have dropped 1lb - its only water weight from eating too much sodium over the Xmas period but its a step in the right direction.:) I am determined to get back to my lowest weight within a couple of weeks and then drop a couple more lbs. I have my first 10km charity run in just over 2 months time so need to leaner and meaner;)
