HOME FOR CHRISTMAS - Michael Powell - Little house with snow/tree background with fairy lights
I want to stitch this and frame it, it's just adorable :D 45x45 stitches so it shouldn't take very long.

Right. I'll have to buy it just for this :)

Since I did the Wedding Chapel and Tenby I have loved MP's designs.

Free Gift - Christmas chart booklet and red/green metallic madeira threads. Some handy little quick stitch designs in there.
Not too sure about these threads, they look 'scratchy' for want of a better word :rotfl: will have to give them a go. Design booklet has some cute designs in it

Page 7 has a 4 pound off a 20 pound spend coupon for Hobbycraft :T (sorry pound sign doesn't work :o ) Expires 24/12/2012, I can feel another spend coming on :rotfl:

SNOWY DAYS - Tatty Teddy in a pink jacket with holly
Nice little design and because tatty is covered up there isn't as much of that backstitch on view :rotfl:
This is kinda cute. I wouldn't stitch for me but maybe a niece. And I knew you'd comment on the hidden backstitch!

    ADVENT CALENDAR - Gail Bussi
Lovely design - larg picture, with some 'Night before Christmas' wording. nnumbered area underneath. The main picture would make a lovely Xmas stitch just on it's own, or even 3 pics as it's in sections
Not too keen on this, a bit bare for me.

    ASSISI CARDS - Lisa Reakes
These are nice, a lot of stitching in them though but they would be worth it. Only give them to people you know would keep and frame them!
Agreed but have far too many other cards I'd rather stitch.

Advert page 31 - I love the tranquil look of 'Winters Hush' by Dimensions but I just know I would never get it completed.
I love this too, like 'A Treasured Time' and another similar one that I can't remember off the top of my head. Will have to decide between them all. Also love the Merry Christmas sampler at the bottom of the page.

HOME FOR CHRISTMAS - Michael Powell - Little house with snow/tree background with fairy lights
I want to stitch this and frame it, it's just adorable :D 45x45 stitches so it shouldn't take very long.
This is lovely, but I'm afraid it might have to wait until next year, my list is too long for this.

ASK THE EXPERTS - Funny that someone just recently asked about changing skin tones (Mrsm?) and they have answered the question on there as well :)

    GINGERBREAD HOUSE - Joan Elliot
Nice Design, not as stunning as some of hers but a good xmas stitch.
Hmmm, I liked it on the front cover but close up, not so much.

    CRAFT EXTRA - Christmas Stocking
Nice but not something I woudl stitch.
Might add to design library for future.

DESIGN LIBRARY - In the nursery (classic toys and games)
    Great for cards
Oooooh might be able to use some of these for my own design Christmas stitch for 11.12.13!

FAIRY LIGHTS ALPHABET - Lucie Heaton
I could see them making nice napkin ring holders?
    Not keen I'm afraid.

    ULTIMATE GUIDE TO METALLIC THREADS
VEry useful, explains the differences between them all and gives some good tips.
    What Louise said!

WREATH CUSHION - Felicity Hall (Wreath with a big red ribbon and 'Merry Christmas in the centre)
I just don't like it, sorry.
I''m not a fan either, actually I'm not really a fan of cross stitch cushions full stop :rotfl:

BLACKWORK BAUBLES - Anne MacGregor - Pretty designs but not something I will make.
Quite like these, but for cards :) Or maybe as decorations but diamond shaped ones, not keen of the round ones

CHRISTMAS CUPCAKE - Nice but not for me.
I still don't get these. Finally something Christmassy I definitely will not stitch, ever!

    CHRISTMAS REINDEER - Ursula Michael
Reindeer with hats or fairy lights in antlers. Not somthign I will stitch.
    Not for me either

FURRY TALES POSTBOX - Lucie Heaton
Little mouse posting Xmas card. Nice for a quick card.
I do like these Lucie Heaton mice, have kept them all for cards etc.

NEXT MONTH - My MIL would like the Meerkat with bauble earrings :rotfl:Next seasonal window will be there and a 1920's 'Downton' inspired christmas design.

Nothing jumps out at me. Naughty or Nice, Country HOuse Style and A Winter View are all OK but that's it. The Forever Friends design is cute though. Interested to see the poinsettia ABC and the 50 speedy tag and card ideas.

JEN'LL FIX IT - Gladioli or Gorilla quick stitches.

Have added my thoughts above in green

Am considering switching from WOXS to Cross Stitcher, or even XS Gold next year, need to check up on the type of subscription I bought first though. I actually got a flyer through the door from WOXS with an offer telling me to subscribe today so maybe it's lapsed already... Although I'm sure I did direct debit....

Off to have a look

    Hello Girls

Managed to find the camera so I can show you a little up date of my purple work - of which I am really enjoying - want to do more - don't like leaving it at end of day.

So before I started - material with my threads and pattern

    108_0089.jpg

Here is where I was last night

    108_0091.jpg

I am not sure I am doing it the way you are meant to be stitching it - I am stitching it like back stitch. It also contains one of my favouite stitches - Algerian Eye - has anyone else got a favourite stitch - I know alot of us don't like french knots.

Making some headway with my christmas stitch. I hope to go to post office to post things - AOY exchange, etc. Will try and get tomorrow after work.

Wishing Ruth-Honey all the best for your op tomorrow.

Well off to do more stitching - keep well everyone

    Kind wishes

    sweetcarer ;)
:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j
  • Had trip to Ikea and managed to pick up some pic frames which look quite christmassy in red. I also picked up some of these resealable bags. They also do these larger ones. They are situated in the bit with all the kitchen stuff.

Got some double-sided tape from The Works - 3 rolls for 99p - which will come in handy for the christmas card making.

Having trouble tracking down a reasonably priced red square frame (approx 8" x 8") at a reasonable price. Why oh why do I pick square designs when it is so difficult to get cheap frames. Dont want to spend too much when it is only going to be on show for a few weeks of the year. Was wondering if The Range had anything in. Might try and have a look online to save a wasted trip.

Catch up with all you posts later.

Happy to get home and find WOXS waiting for me. :j Only had a quick browse but lots I like and plenty to add to the "to stitch list"

Have been away this weekend (the one I mentioned in a previous post) and thank you to all who replied and said I should go - I did - and I have had fun. Have also had a good laugh - feel better for it (I think!) ( just dreading the return to work tomorrow now).

Don't feel up to any stitching tonight - will read WOXS instead :j

    Oh I forgot to

Stopped off in Mr T on the way home - discovered that this month they have a Mr T exclusive with Cross Stitch Crazy - another free Margaret Sherry Chart (Morrisons had an exclusive Margaret Sherry Chart last month).

This is unfair to subscribers and I am tempted to complain.

    I would complain too flateric.

OHH sweetcarer am glad that design comes up bigger then it looks - my eyes were going squiffy just looking at the picture. I thought it was like backsttch? That's how I would have done it.

ohhhh BTW I heard back from origin publishing after I questioned them as to why someone was told a few hours before me they would get their box and it is still being advertised but I was told they were not being replenshed.
apparently (after over a week of investigating) they are getting some more in and I will get one................ hmmm well I won't be holding my breath there then.

Is it worth starting my stitching now?
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

I didn't like the Morrisons Bonus Margaret Sherry Chart but the chart featured in Mr T is cute and would be a possible stitch. I'm not sure who commission the bonus charts? whether it is the supermarket or the magazine?? but it annoys me because I'm not going to pay a fiver for another copy of the magazine just to get one chart extra.

I will have to compose something when I am less tired and fire it off to the publishers.

Maria - thanks for the list of threads. I popped to the local shop after work and replaced 550 and got a few that I knew from looking at them I hadn't got - the bright green and the turquoise. Also got a piece of 28 count even weave in an oatmeal colour.

Must not start until fairies are finished. Having said that finished the main stitching tonight just got the vine around the outside to do now.

Sk00bie - loving the Angel. You are now the expert on french knots - we will know where to come to for advice.

FlatEric - glad you had a nice weekend and were pleased that you made the decision.

Ruth - good luck for tomorrow.

Sweetcarer - your purplework is shaping up nicely. Looking forward to the updates. I really like purple so this is just up my street.

WOXS - haven't done a full review but just to say I have added the Michael Powell design to my do to list and fairy lights alphabet will be kept for future reference. Quite like the reindeers but can't see me actually stitching them.
