    Haha I'm so weak, I saw this;
    WARNING WARNING WARNING

    Sew and so sale now on!

    Small print- poster accepts no responsibility for shrinking bank balances! lol

    And thought 'I won't even look, I need to be good and not spend any money cause of the wedding...'

    And then I saw this;
    ohh - email from Michael Powell - new book out - looks FANTASTIC....... and a bargain at less then £4 delivered.
    hmmm..... perhaps order it when my next shop and scan vouchers are ready.....well I have until April 13th lol.

    And though 'Bargain 4 quid! Can't go wrong' and I seem to have just preordered it...

    In my defence it is a pre-order and won't actually be published until we are in Las Vegas.

    That's what I'm telling myself anyway! :rotfl:

    Thanks for the posting about the sale Maria and for the link chicky :T

  • well I did good and resisted all temptation, though to be honest there wasn't too much to tempt me. I do like the catkin blackwork charts though. Does anyone use a thimble, my speed appears to be picking up at last and I keep stabbing my finger.

    Hope everyone is ok and loving the updates. I also signed up to the 13 in 2013, so hopefully it will go well.

    Chicky, I can't believe how much they are messing us around. I'll have to make contact again, eugh. I feel they should at least offer the value of the item or perhaps a years free sub. hmmm. Probably wouldn't have looked thrice had it not been for the sewing box and threads and the other mag is still offering it, thats what really makes me :mad:

    mrsm - How is your dad now, have you heard about him since earlier?

    tricksie - Welcome back :) look forward to seeing your finishes, I like the look of the Map. Good luck not buying any more stash, I know I couldn't manage that :o

    Chicky - what a scare for your neighbour, I'm glad to hear he is okay (well, physically anyway) :( Thanks for the link to the MP book. I have decided not to buy it, I'm not sure I would stitch many of them. Pity they don't have more images on display for people to see.

    Maria - nice try. I have the site open in another tab, If I buy anything I'm telling hubby it's your fault :p:p:p

    b_e_g - hope you're feeling a bit better soon. This is the worst time of year for people feeling down.:(

    subtle minx - I have never used a thimble, I imagine it would annoy me tbh. Let us know if it helps or hinders :)

    Hi ladies.

    Nmm. Nice progress! Glad you finally got your finger problem diagnosed. Can it be cured or is it a case of managing/treating it?

    AM. I hope your health improves real soon. Nice Dalek, the thought of a Dalek in a party hat holding a balloon made me smile :D

    Soulie. Nice to see you again, hope you feel better soon.

    MrsMP. Hope your Dad is ok.

    Subtleminx. I have used rubber thimbles to stitch with and they were ok. I don't use them all the time, just when needs be. Got them on ebay, mixed pack of sizes as I didn't know which size was best.
    Just had a quick look and a pack of 5 mixed sizes is under £2 delivered. They appear to be the same as I have so if you want measurements, just let me know :)

    The Michael Powell book is lovely and so affordable! I must resist though. I told hubby I'd try not to buy any more stitchy stash or tree books this year. At the leisurely pace I stitch my kits will probably outlast me :o

  • Thanks Shelly, I'll go and have a look on ebay. Sew and sew ones were quite dear and I have no idea what size i would need, all I know is I have little fingers, not much wider than a cm i think by looking.

    Will def purchase some i think as my fingers will soon start resembling a pincushion or piece of aida and blood will be very unsightly on my fabric. :p

    No problem at all. These are the same as I have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pack-of-5-Assorted-Sizes-Rubber-Thimbles-Thimblettes-sizes-00-0-1-2-3-/380538090495?pt=UK_BOI_Office_Office_Supplies_Stationery_ET&hash=item5899d673ff ( I have no link at all to the seller, just the cheapest mixed pack) When I use one I use it on my middle finger and the red, green and blue will all fit nicely. The yellow and orange only really fit my thumb.
    As you say, without knowing for sure which size you need, a mixed pack is the way to go.
