    Good Afternoon Ladies,

Hope everyone is well and recovered from all the excitement of yesterday. I had a lovely day with hubby and then we went to my parents for dinner. Came home to a really sore head and I hadn't been drinking.

Got some lovely presents and some that were ok. Hubby got me the wee slippers someone posted on here a few weeks back and I had shown him them saying they were cute (I like lady bugs) and he went to the shop and got them (brave) and he got me a lady bug money bank too. He also got me something stitchy related - found this in an envelope (at a charity shop I guess) and got it for me - didn't think he realised the size of it.

Don't know when I will be attempting it - where on earth will I get a big a piece of aida - need to big bit. Looking for good aida just now for my quilt squares.

Feeling still a wee bit out of sorts today.

Think I will go now check out facebook and maybe have a wee nap.

    Keep well everyone

    sweetcarer ;)

Ooh thanks for the tips, I don't have a hoop, but I do have a friend that might have one...

    I'll take a photocopy too.

Thanks again. It might be a while before I start it, but I'll keep you updated with progress...

Sweetcarer-I have that one to do! I saw the design & had to get it. It was in New Stitches magazine years ago & I found the back issues(spread over 4 issues) and I've bought the evenweave & black threads ready, but not yet braved starting it. It is HUGE, isn't it?

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. No stitching gifts here but may be treats in the sewing website sales!!

I have a question please - I am planning to start a sampler from historical sampler company. Should I cut the full skein into say 1m lengths and make a thread card for it? What would I do with the leftover threads? I am more of a kit stitcher so need some guidance please

I cut bobbins from bits of cardboard (currently using old tampon box), cut two notches at the top to hold the ends of the thread, label the unpatterned side with make and colour number and wind the skein onto the bobbin.

It's time consuming when you start, but at least you can cut the thread to the length you want.

I've got a problem - DMC Color Variations. I was trying to stitch a pattern from CrossStitcher May 2008, a green eyed cat playing with a ball of yarn.

The trouble is, the threads specify Color Variations DMC 4015 and I can't find it in my local Hobbycraft.

The deadline was Friday morning when I was supposed to hand it to a lady who is retiring (she's got a cat).

I'll just have to get her address and send it on to her once I've finished - I'm so angry with myself that I didn't find the thread and I left it so late before finishing it.
 Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway...

Sweetcarer, they sell aida sized 100cm x 150cm, i think the design says its 65cm x 100cm so that should be more than big enough :) On the plus side its only 1 colour of thread ;)

  • bossymoo - can't wait to see how you get along. Can't add any further advice other than what has already been mentioned so - good luck :)

sweetcarer - good luck with the map. Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Gingernutty - sorry I can't help with the thread but hopefully someone will be along soon to help. Good luck in your search.

Stitchy Pressie Update - DH presented me with a xmas gift box last night all tied up with red organza ribbon and when I opened it (seemed a shame really as it looked beautiful) there were 265 Anchor threads staring up at me. :smileyhea He said his heart sank when I said that the only things I was going to be stitching was Sleeping Beauty and MS 12 Days and that I already had all the threads for those. :o What are the chances of still not having the right thread no for the next new project :p

Right now I need to ask some advice on the Jane Greenoffs Designer cd but I will have to work out what it is I am having trouble with :o. Will be back soon.

  • Jane Greenoffs Cross Stitch Designer CD

I can manage to import pics but am having trouble in opening the included files (.jgm files). Hope this makes sense to someone and they can tell me where I'm going wrong.

Any advice on using this cd will be very much appreciated.

  • Sorry it's me again ...........

Forgot to mention if anyone sees any sparkly aida in the sales whilst they are browsing around - I wouldn't mind getting some for next year's cards as I was quite impressed with it when I used it for some cards this year (I've never used it before).

Had an email to say that Hobbycraft sale is on if anyone is looking for anything.
