Mags_cat - Mum's pics look great.
nmm - woo hoo on completing page 3 :T
On instructions received from DS - Santa brought me Jane Greenoffs Cross Stitch Designer cd (no hints had been dropped by me, honest). He was getting me some xstitch fabric but when he checked it (online) it was supposed to be white but he thought it looked blue so he said I had better sort my own (on his behalf) :rotfl::rotfl: and has told me to pick a mag sub :j. Result = one happy mummy :j And on a non-stitchy note he got me an ipod dock to use in the kitchen.
Really looking forward to getting xstitch back out ie. Sleeping Beauty. Am going to mark out fabric for MS 12 Days of Xmas (probably later in the week) so that I can swap between the two.
DH and DS are catching up with the final of Homeland and then the tv is mine for the night to catch up with soaps and Strictly.
Hope you've all had a lovely day.

Merry Christmas, to all the stitchers! Hope you've had a lovely day. We've had a good one. I even got a new counted cs from my mum! A surprise as I didn't know she was aware I liked them. Anyway, she got me this: http://www.colray-crafts.com/DimensionWebE/newhtm/big.php?ProductID=17802
I would never ave chosen it myself, so I'm really pleased!
Question, I've never done a really big one before, how do you start? Do you do one colour first, or do in sections? The aida is navy, so would you not colour in the night sky? And any other tips for a novice?
Thanks ladies and merry crimble xBossymoo

bossy that is lovley
to sew on a dark coloured aida you will need good light and sometimes it helps to have something white on you lap like a pillow case as it can help you see the holes better
the pattern will tell you if you need to do the sky, make sure you read all the instructions to make sure you are using the correct number of threads.
it's on 18ct aida so the holes will be smaller than 14ct., but again good light will help with that
start in the middle and it is personal choice if you do all one colour or a section at a time.
one more tip I always no matter how big or small the chart is, is Mark of the chart as I go with a pencil, then I can rub out if I need to, that way I always know where I am, then if I have to leave it for a while it's easy for me to pick it up and carry on
oh one more use a hoop or a frame to help with the tension of your stitches and make you finished piece look even better
hope that helps a bit, enjoy13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -

I like it too Bossy
One more tip if I may though... take a copy of the chart and mark your stitching off on the copy. I find it really useful to have an uncoloured in version for when I have to go back and do back stitch
Looking forward to your progress pics xx0
