    Hello everyone!

I don't know where I have posted or what on, so I have to say that I hope you all had a lovely Christmas yesterday and a relaxing Boxing Day!

I have spend the majority of the day opening boxes and finding homes for the kids stuff. It wasn't too bad as we have big storage boxes for various items already (Barbie / Sylvanian families / Lego friends etc) but I need to clear the shelves in the wardrobes to put the new games on, but that can wait till Friday. We are off to hubby's parents tomorrow to see their side of the family. I will bet now that his brother, partner and 3 kids don't show!

I didn't get any stitchy stuff for christmas at all  Mind you that's probably a good thing :rotfl: My Kindle Fire HD was from Hubby, and my mum bought me a beautiful amber and silver necklace (Amber is my DD's name) other than that I got Perfume, Stand up DVD's and other bits and pieces, I was very lucky :)

In stitching news, I am two thread lengths away from finishing my first quilt square, so I will try and finish, wash and post a pic of that tonight. I don't know what to do after that though. I am thinking that I shouldn't start anything New for the New Year and should just work my way through my UFO's - Circe and Earth spring to mind.
Mind you I do want to create a 'Family rules' design of my own, based on these sort of posters: 1 and 2 soooo...y'know.....:o

  • A belated Merry Christmas Ladies. I hope everyone enjoyed the Christmas madness.

Your quilt square is beautiful Louise.

Maria - The Angel wings are lovely.

Do the ladies that make squares for the quilts get to see the final piece made up?

Mags Cat - your Mums pictures look great together. I bet she is thrilled with them.

Nmm - I have completely forgotten what the finished piece looks like but you are making great progress. Thanks for the update.

Brednall - Jemima Looks great. Was your mum surprised?

I did rather well in regards to Christmassy stuff this year. I was given a bag of 125 assorted anchor threads, a bag of assorted silk threads and a crafty storage box to keep everything in:).

I am planning to try and be a bit more organised with my stitchy stuff this year. I always manage to leave everything till the last minute and then it is all such a rush:o.

Hmmm not too impressed with myself this morning. I have noticed over the last few days that I have been getting FB notification e-mails. had one last night/this morning and decided I didn't want to/need to receive these notification e-mails so clicked on unsubscribe. Lo and behold I get taken to some webpage that is not an unsubscribe page !!!! but a webpage for naughty thing from a canadian phamacy. so annoyed with myself. :( I hate fb - well I suppose its not fb's fault but I'm still annoyed with it :rotfl:

so got excited when I heard the letterbox go but sadly no stitchy mag being delivered - cottage holiday brochure instead. Is WOXS due out soon ?

    Hi ladies.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.

Mags. The JC designs look really good!

BEG. How thoughtful of your DS, I'll bet you were chuffed. Also lovely of your DH to get you all those Anchor threads!

Bossy. You lucky lady, I love that kit! When I start a larger than usual design I find and mark the centre of the fabric then work out from there as I can't trust myself to count correctly to start from a corner
It's personal choice if you do all of the same colour first or do each colour as it comes. I personally stitch each colour as it comes, stitching the colours that are immediately next to each other so that when I finish I have some stitches to run my thread under to finish off.
Looking at the design I'd guess the centre is at the bottom of the drainpipe between the top 2 lighted windows so I'd probably start by stitching the blue section to the left of the bottom of the drainpipe then I'd either go to the left and do the dark trees or work my way up the turret.
However you decide to stitch it up, enjoy it!

Sweetcarer. Best of luck with the Map! I just googled it and saw a finished pic  Blimey, it's huge! Is it really this big? or have they used a larger count fabric?

Hope you are feeling better today.

Brednall. I too am more of a kit stitcher but when I am using a full length skein I cut off 1 length of roughly 60cm and leave the rest of the skein intact and store it in a small ziplock bag (bought in bulk from ebay) along with it's number label. Any thread leftover then goes back into the bag with the rest of the full skein.
Look forward to update pics of your sampler.

    Louise. Lovely quilt square.
I like your 'family rules' design idea, would look fab in lots of different bright colours.

Firefly. Sounds like you did well too in regards to getting threads for xmas.

I didn't get any stitchy items for xmas but I wasn't surprised as I didn't ask for any :D I did get everything else I asked for though so was very happy. Hubby got me a gorgeous Radley, pj's, books, yankee candle and yesterday Tesco had some half price tablet pcs for £49 so he got me one of those too.
Parents and brother and his gf gave me books and cash.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • Afternoon all, just finished the housework, wait for the load in the washing machine to finish then that is going in the tumble drier, then tea, sewing and call the midwife before I have to go out.

sweetcarer - good luck with the map. Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

Don't know when I will be starting the map - got a few irons in the fire just now - AOY quilts, Sandy Hook quilts, purplework part 2, and Helen Phillips seasons.

I am still feeling - yuk - had to go to bed early. Feeling really low and can't seem to snap out of it. The house is a mess and I have no inclination to tidy up. Hubby sleeps still during the day - I know he is sad too. Sorry for my downs.

Yep thats the size of it - on the look out for good deals on Aida. Don't think hubby realised the size of it when he got it - just seen a nice pattern he thought I like. He asked me I wonder if there is an American version - jeez it would be massive.

Really should get my stitching out and do some of the quilts at least. Trying to think what I can do for the school quilt - doing the same one but different colours for the teachers and my wee bear for the wee girl who shares my birthday but want to do something different. I know my stitching will help my woes - lock me in a world that I don't need to think.

Well I better get on with something

    Keep well everyone

    sweetcarer ;)
:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j
  • Quick question - can you get the number stickers to go on the bobbins for Anchor threads - I seem only able to find DMC ones. Going to have a real sort out/tidy up of threads.

This could be the first of many New Year Resolutions - I wonder how long it will last :p
