eeek Maria - sorry but DS1's teachers aren't getting pressies, not starting that tradition (and I don't feel bad about it as when I was teaching 35 children in a Y1 class I think I got 1 pressie and 2 cards!)
Now the climbing frame issue would make me complain to OFSTED!!!!!
my school are charging £0 as DS1s play as it is in his classroom
all their 'donations' are going on a book bus (read a very expensive bookshelf) which they'll never afford until after DS1 has left anyway!
They annoyed me in the 1st week of term when they sent an A4 printout of a teddy bear and for "homework" the children had to cover it with money and return it. To me that is downright dirty and unethical.
they had a strongly worded letter off me last month which i hand delivered and also hand delivered copies to the heads of the other schools in he area, DS1 dreads me finding out stuff as he gets embarrassed by my reactions and the fact ive got fed up of biting my tongue.
hes come home with 2 of the mid priced tickets and asked me not to say anything to the head "just go in sit down enjoy the show and leave it" is his request. DS2 wont be going to that school so roll on july when DS1 leaves and i can vent my spleen regularly:rotfl:
oh and the show is in the school hall and the posh seats are the same chairs the kids sit on (the naff plastic stacker things) at least the tiered seats are padded.
re the teddy bear i would have got the wax crayons out and let my child do coin rubbings and sent that in;)
glad you found that email Louise, hope its something nice

I know it's not funny but I did have a little chuckle at what people are going through with their childrens xmas concerts. I had no idea  I don't have children yet but I would like some within the next few years. Can you imagine what it'll cost in ten years time? Forewarned is forearmed!
Still haven't finished any of the three projects that are close to completion. I'm sure they'll be done by the end of the month.
I'm looking forward to seeing what people have stitched for 12.12.12.

Good Evening All, I hope you don't mind me popping in. I have done cross stitch for a good few years but events have overtaken me the last couple years and I haven't had a chance to do any, however, that is going to change now
My question to you is, would you recommend subscribing to a cross stitch magazine and if so which one would you recommend?0 -
Hello
There are quite a few different magazines, depending on what sort of stuff you like to do. Small things, cartoons, big, complicated designs etc...
My advice would be try 'em and see which you like best x0 -
Welcome to the Cafe moments_of_sanity
There are often really good subscription offers for X stitch magazines like '3 issues for £5'. So if you don't fancy it after those three issues you can just cancel the subscription. I think te5co vouchers can get you subscriptions as well.

Loving all the cards but am sure there are some missing, please do show your sendee's hard work, it only takes a few minutes...........
it's not that I'm impatient but the order i placed last night isn't here yet:rotfl:
To all who have faught the school 'donations' system.... well done. I don't know HOW they get away with it.
Needless to say we covered our teddy in 1ps (with 5ps for the eyes and nose).
But there is no way I would pay £20 for something staged in the school hall - that really needs mentioning.
hello newbies, pull up a pew, tell us about yourselves and share some of your works. We pride ourselves on the community feel.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Well, having spent the last hour or so up in a freezing cold loft going through my skeins, Aida and charts I find I haven't got the right colours to be able start anything! Oh well sure the 100+ colours I do have will come in useful at some point! :rotfl:
Most of the x stitches I have done in the past have been small Christmas designs, looney toons and country companions so looking forward to doing different things now so if anyone has any inspiration I am all ears :j
I have really enjoyed this thread so far and the work you have all done is amazing, I love seeing all your photos.0 -
