Hi just on quickly before the madness starts.

Love all of the cards, there's so much variation it's great. Will try to post a photo of mine later. Using my new galaxy tab (early Christmas present to myself) and don't know how-to do photos yet.

On the card front there's good news, ruthhoneys card from Caroline arrived with me yesterday so I'll post it on today.

Chicky I your last quote best the one about the home and family, if your friend has a family.

"See" - welll sort of - you all later.

All the cards are just wonderful. I would be happy to receive any of those. They're lovely! I recognise one of the designs (Maria's red & green one) from the chart book I stitched my mum's Christmas card from.

Up far too early this morning. Got to sleep about 2am and woke up before 7am when hubby was getting ready for work. Got a long day today, so hopefully I'll manage a nap in a little while.
    What's everyone up to today?

Eta-ooooh, thanks Ailsb! I'll start stalking the postman again! Thanks for forwarding it for me.

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • So pleased you like it maria.

Yet another early start today. Changing cushion covers to more xmassy looking ones - well they are cream and red and decided we are in desperate need for some new cushion pads as the ones we have are as flat as pancakes. When you see them for about £2 each doesn't seem too bad but when you multiply it by about 8 and they don't seem to last too long

Oh well less moaning and had better get a move on.

Catch up with you all later.

My local £land had them last week. At that price I don't mind so much if they don't last long and are ideal for my Xmas cushions which aware packed away for 11 months of the year
  • Loving all the cards. Isn't the variety wonderful? There isn't one I wouldn't love to have on display. Looking forward to seeing the rest of them later tonight
I put my photo in the Cafe group on Flickr
Would love to know details of each card :D
Mine is a design by Just Nan called Rudy Reindeer stitched on 32 count raw opalescent Belfast linen with a few beads and a charm using DMC threads. It was a pleasure to stitch
  • Still catching up with posts as December is a manic month both personally and professionally

Maria wow you have been busy. Love all of your decorations especially the felt hearts. Did you find a stitchy group in your area?

    Caroline. Hope DS is better

Chicky. US designs do a lot of calendar type designs but July and Nov can be unsuitable

OFF TOPIC. Slow cookers use less power than an oven If you look at the meter when you switch on an electric oven it is spinning very fast! They are designed to be left on unattended for hours so the fire risk is low - probably no more than a fridge but we all have our own comfort level with safety. I won't leave Xmas lights on in an empty house though I know a lot of people do. Whether a SC suits your lifestyle probably depends on what sot of meals you usually have. Anyone who cooks a lot of casseroles stews and soups will love a SC. there used to be a thread on MSE about What are you cooking in your SC today ? They are great for cooking cheaper cuts of meat and making it tender and tasty. A really cheap meal is chicken thighs cooked in a supermarket value range curry sauce but not everyone would like that (my.DH loves it).

Here's the pic I took of my card before I sent it off to Louise. Blossom kindly modelled it for me. :)
It was a chart from woxs. Christmas 2001 issue and is part of a set of four Christmas designs. I stitched it on white opalescent evenweave and used mainly DMC threads, but Madeira holographic threads for the red & green bits (not easy to stitch with!!!). Used seed beads for the eyes because I can never get my French knots to sit right. I loved stitching it (it's the second time I've stitched this chart because I think it's very cute) and even the holographic threads were worth it in the end.

I love the variety of the designs we chose. Every single one is so special and I'm sure we'll all treasure our cards. Thank you so much to Caroline for organising this exchange. :T

    Morning ladies.

Loving all the xmas cards, they are beautiful!

Not sure I'll get any stitching done for a few days, the cold that's been threatening has arrived in full force and I feel dreadful! :( Rather have it now though than wake up xmas day with it.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:
  • hope you feel better soon shelly

got a shock off DS1 already got tickets to DS2 christmas show £3each dont mind that as its for the school pot
but DS1 didnt know how much his tickets were so rang school reception to be told there are NO concessions tickets are the same price for everyone tiered seats are £6 each balcony (where the lights and music are done from are £5 or four for £16 but in her words view is not good and you cant guarantee not to have view blocked by a pillar! or if you want the floor level seats in front of the stage with the best view possible its £20 each
dont think ill be asking for those seats, its a school Christmas concert for goodness sake not a guns and roses concert! (which incidently we saw free this year thank to seefilmfirst)
talk about milking it what are other schools charging out of interest if anyone elses kids are doing one?
