  • This might be a silly question, but if the slow Cooker is on all day does it use a lot of electric? I keep thinking about getting one, but I'm unsure.

I don't know whether to go to Exeter for a potter around the 'new' John Lewis, or whether I should stay in the warm.

I have e free £10 train voucher which i have to use by the end of December, so it's freee.

    Oh I don't know....

Hope cat is ok FE xx

Is the voucher the red spotted hankey one ? I have one of those too but haven't got round to using it yet. Trouble is the journeys I want to make cost under a tenner so I think I will have to plan ahead and book a couple of trips for next year. :j

Thank you for your good wishes re my cat. We were not sure whether a visit to the vets was warranted but we knew he wasn't quite right so thought it best to get him checked out rather than leave it and then be stuck till Monday. The vet said his paw had got infected from where he was bitten by the other cat :( so the vet cleaned his paw for him and then gave him an injection - I guess of pain killing / antibiotics. We have to take him back on Monday. He is getting better already as he is more friendly and also scoffed the tuna i bought him at @Sda !

 talking of @sda - bought series 6 of Desperate Housewives for £9 :j bargain so I thought except I already have it  so a trek back next Saturday to return it.

Sorry for delaying the pics, everyone. I doubt my card will be here by Monday, but I'm happy for people to post photos of theirs then.

Can't believe you were up all night stitching, Caroline! Bet you're feeling tired now.

What did you decide? If you did go out, how busy was it? I'm done with my pressie shopping now, so just trying to get the house sorted out and stitching as much as I can.

Today we've been working on our Christmas food order. We're very low on food generally anyway, so think we'll buy some lighter things in store tomorrow, then have our tesco order delivered after my Gloucester visit.
I hate doing the shopping order. Need to plan meals more, I think. Was considering buying a slow cooker, too. Argos have one for £11.99 at the moment & it's got good reviews. Does anyone else use one?

I'm very tempted by a slow cooker and think I might treat myself in the New Year. :j

Caroline - I can't believe you stayed up all night! It gets to 10pm and my bed calls me. I am not a night owl!

I don't like the idea of leaving the slow cooker on all day when I won't be at home so expect I would only use it when I was in. although I expect I am being over cautious - it is I suppose no different to leaving anything else plugged in all day... Yes I wonder how efficient they are. No good if it eats the electric ! I wonder having never used one - is it simply a case of putting in the veg/stock/meat and switching on ? or do you have to sweat the onions/brown the meat on the hob first??
  • Have been really busy over the last few days so will have lots of pictures for you later

Yeah, it's the redspottedhanky one - return to exeter is £8.50, so that's good enough for me. Might get there tomorrow.

I think you were right to take mog to the vet - it might've got worse and worse, and then be much more serious. When Boycat cut his ear she said the injection they gave them was basically ibuprofen and penicillin.

I have been a bit more productive this afternoon than this morning - I made a lampshade :D Really proud of myself.

Hope you've all been ok.. x

So glad your cat is on the mend.
I said the exact same thing to DH about the slow cooker & leaving it on all day with no-one in the house. I've suggested to Santa that it might make a good Christmas present. :)

You've been mega busy! Loved the photos. Kept changing my mind about my favourite-they all look so good! Drawn to the owls, though. Cute!

Probably mentioned this before but my Grandma's cat was called Boycat.

Do you have a pic of your lampshade to share?

Just had the strangest tea because neither of us wanted to venture out in the cold & wasn't hungry enough for take away. We had roast potatoes & stuffing balls with a gravy dip on the side! :rotfl: It was nice...just very odd!

    Good evening everyone!

I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who recomended across town stitching to me - I got my threads this week and am very happy with them and the price!:j

Ruth_honey - I'm sorry to hear that your cat has been in the wars. Its never nice to see them unhappy, although excellent to hear he is on the mend now (tuna always helps!). I really liked the Christmas card with the cats on.

Maria and the imps - your tree is going to look fantastic, those decorations are beautiful! I really like the princess place pillow you made, the detail is really nice.

couldsavemore - how is your stitching going? Have you managed to find the time to do anymore?

I am doing the last bits of a 'let it snow' that was in cross stitch crazy at the moment - hopefully won't take too long to finish....

I'm not sure what my first stitch of 2013 will be, I am thinking of doing this one called Innocence (I'm not allowed to post links up yet :() by Heaven and Earth.

I have been trying to just do one at a time, but may start doing some rotations of different projects. Does anyone else do that?

Its going to be exciting to see all the Christmas cards that you all made :)
