Hi! It was this kit: http://direct.hobbycraft.co.uk/products-Tobin-by-Design-Works-Noahs-Ark-Sampler-Cross-Stitch-Kit_311597.htm
Not sure about thread make. Is there a way to find out if it's colourfast. I'd hate to ruin it once it's all finished :eek:0 -

If no joy I shall have a good look when I get home. I think i remember it saying you can order more thread if you run out and it might say something about a brand but I really can't remember.

Hi Laura - Welcome to the cafe (that cake looks nice lol)
On the thread card you should have got with your kit, can you remember if it lists the thread numbers or if they are just colour names? If you can list a few numbers when you get home we will be able to tell you if it's DMC/Anchor (ie. named brand) threads.
When something is so noticeably stained, I woudl recommend stopping now and washing it using the method Maria described. It's better to know sooner than later if a stain is going to come out, It would be awful to waste a lot of time for something to be ruined at the end :eek:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. no stitching last night but DS2 got enroled at scouts so i now have a ton of badges to sew on.
Thanks for looking.
eeek I can't wait for DS1 to start beevers, I used to LOVE going to Brownies (hated Guides). I remeber how much I loved my uniform and getting badges and filling in my promise book (it was yellow). In fact I can clearly picture my uniform and books and it was YEARS ago. (anyway I digress).chickywiggle, not sure if you managed to track down the 3803 you were after, but this seems a reasonable-ish deal from fleabay for 4x8m skeins of your choice of DMC colours from katzxstitch: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-x-8m-SKEINS-OF-DMC-6-STRAND-EMBROIDERY-FLOSS-Pick-Your-Own-Colours-/130712405236?pt=UK_Crafts_CrossStitch_RL&hash=item1e6f1104f4 (£1.92 plus 80p P&P...).
Fingers crossed you managed to get sorted out at JL.

Ohh thats sounds good thanks. They didn't have anything identical to the green - similar but not identical. comparing them today I have a horrible feeling its a cheap non-branded one.I'm gonna have to trek over to hobbycraft aren't I
They didn't seem to have any reds in the 3000 range but now have *22 and *44 which looked very close (typically i didn't take it with me). normally (if i remember rightly) a * means this is a re-numbered colour so I have a hunch they have changed it. will have a google in a bit.Monday was almost a washout - everything seemed to annoy me today. Then I got to work and was presented with a big box of Thorntons chocs and flowers as a thank you for helping a couple of the guys out over the last wee while. Then I got home and my boss phoned me and said I was going to be going to a ceremony next month to be presented with an award for my work with young people, so those incidents both made a nice end to the evening. No stitching though...maybe tomorrow....:D
:T:T fantastic well done you.Is there a way to clean the canvas after I've finished it all? Or should I clean it now? Any advice welcome
Laura
Hi :j
i always leave my washing till the end and put it in the sink with some bubble bath.

Use water first, it might get it out. Second step would be some washing powder and only if those aren't working should you try anything stronger.
Looking at it, I reckon it will clean up with some washing powder. Try and wash/dry it flat though, don't wring the water out at all. (I put mine between a towel and iron over the towel to get the majority of the water out then leave it to dry properly)Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thanks. You are probably right. I have already put a fair few hours in and it would be a shame toget all the way to the end and many many hours later and it be un-salvageable.

Hi Laura Welcome to the cafe. Your stitching looks lovely and it would be a shame to ruin it. Lemon juice may take the colour out of the aida fabric - you could test it on a corner which will be hidden when the piece is framed. I would try to remove the hoop marks now as the longer they stay the harder to remove.
If you can establish that your threads are DMC or Anchor or Madeira they should be fine.
Then I would treat the hoop marks with a Vanish stick (or similar) and then wash in cool soapy water. Rinse until the water is clear and then roll your stitching in a fluffy towel to remove excess water. Then put another fluffy towel on your ironing board and press on the wrong side (this raises the stitches off the fabric).
Wrapping bias binding around your hoop helps to keep the fabric clean and always remove your stitching when you have finished for the day.
Looking forward to hearing how you get on and seeing more progress on your piece.0
