Well personally I'd go with the ipod shuffle but I am a bit of an Apple fan! Although now I have an iphone all my music is on there, fewer gadgets to carry around now :)

If you want something bigger/with a screen then this has some good reviews and the smaller sizes come if a few different colours. Which ones were you looking at before you were put off?

I was Christmas shopping in Bakewell at the weekend - which is always dangerous as Wye Needlecraft is there :rotfl: And ended up treating myself to this Design Works Kit, not something I would normally go for but just thought it was a stunning design

I've seen that one before & although it's not my usual style, there's something about it which is just lovely! Hope you enjoy stitching it.
have had a lovely day the rain stopped and the sun came out so i enjoyed a lovely walk round the park then home cup of tea and stitched for 3 hours in peace. haven't got very far with it because im slow but should speed up the more i do.

    happy stitching everyone

That sounds like bliss! What are you working on at the moment?
    Yeah I just remembered!

So what's everyone got planned for there 1st stitch of 2013?

Ummm...hadn't thought about that. I still need to keep on top of my Christmas ABC, but I don't want to be stitching exclusively christmas stuff all year. Although I've got a stocking for DH which I'm giving him for Christmas as a kit & hope to stitch it for next year. Oooh, I know! My Lizzie Kate cat rules for people chart. :D

    That's got me thinking .......

I've done a bit more on my Christmas Cheer project which is supposed to be finished for 12 12 12 which is only a week away:eek:

Oh no! Is it that close? I've barely done anything on mine. Apart from changing my mind about what kit to stitch because it was easier & I might have more hope of finishing it! Best get on with that, then...:rotfl:

I've just read back and the original plan was to post pictures on the 7th (tomorrow). I don't suppose it matters doing it one day later?

I'm dying to see everyones cards though :rotfl:

Sorry to edit down your post so much. If everyone else has recieved their cards, I'm happy for people to post photos today. I still haven't got mine, though. Blooming Royal Mail...:( So whoever sent to me, please don't post a pic. I've got a camera, so can take a photo when it arrives. Very excited to see everyone else's stitching.

Oh, and I don't think it's bad form at all to stitch your own wedding sampler. But how will you find the time???

I love Apple products & we've got an old shuffle-1st gen? I think the last gen-pre Sep 2012?-had a small screen, which might be useful for your mum. But with reviews(on most things), ignore the very best & worst. Quite often-especially on Amazon-the worst reviews are moaning about delivery times anyway.

this was the one I thought about getting - the 3 minute charge (for 90 minute playback) appealed as I imagine this would be quite useful but its designed like a usb stick so the cover comes off and I can just see that getting lost.....

I do like the one you posted about - I've also spotted this one - this is similar to the one you posted and has less memory for about the same money but the design looks better I think.

sorry for the off topic guys. its a damn nightmare buying xmas gifts.

I don't like Sony's MP3 players. The software they use to get the songs onto the players is very un-user friendly & kept crashing. My hubby had an Archos one before we went 'Apple' & that was good.

Am going to stitch a little paw print as a xmas card from Blossom to DH. Do you think I should use DMC 3799(very dark grey), black, or use a colour to liven it up?

I would use 3 strands of 3799 for the paw print and 2 strands of black for the back stitch. perhaps for the bits where the little paw pads are, I would use 2 strands of pink and 1 strand of grey?

I remember having an mp3 player once - I think it was a Phillips one and it drove us dotty with the software which didn't work properly and caused huge headaches. I much prefer these drag and drop players.

or little pink french knots or sead beads for the paw pads instead?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've checked Blossom's paws (she barely opened her eyes to see what I was doing!) and there's no pink. She's all very dark grey/brown(hard to tell exactly in this light), so have stitched a little paw print in 3799. Using 3 strands was a good idea! Now to find the black thread and do the back stitch...
