I just wanted to ask everyone a quick question. If you were stitching more than one project at a time and they all used, for example, DMC 3565; would you just have one skein and swap between them or buy enough so that each project had it's own threads?

    X

I would buy enough skeins for each project because I am terrible for changing my mind and starting yet another project and *borrowing* the thread and then going back to the original project and I'm missing half the threads I need!

Did anyone watch the Claridges documentary that was on bbc on Monday evening? would you pay £5,500.00 for a room (sorry a suite) for a night ?
  • caroline ,- hope your son soon gets better doing a pee must be so painful i feel like crying just thinking about him.

flat eric- thanks for your advice i think using thread will be the best

have had a lovely day the rain stopped and the sun came out so i enjoyed a lovely walk round the park then home cup of tea and stitched for 3 hours in peace. haven't got very far with it because im slow but should speed up the more i do.

Hmmm, 37 cross stitch kits to start, plus 2 UFO's :rotfl:

Next one decided upon, a cat from New Stitches magazine from 1997, got copy in my bag so can take a photocopy at work tomorrow.
  • Louise - I forgot to say the song looks lovely. I LOVE the name border, you are soooo creative.

Ruth_Honey - I'm glad it's not just me who thinksglow in the dark threads are a pain in the a*se to stitch with...........worse then metallic I think. Some of the letters are stitched in half strand as they seperated to easily I didn't realise I'd actually split 1 strand into 2. And fluffy...........it keeps flipping going fluffy!!!!!!!

eeek Flat_eric you won't be messing with your hair again will you............how DO they tell???
They were talking about the claridges documentry at work - i meant to watch it and missed must rememeber to see if its repeated. I soon changed the topic to super scrimpers christmas special.
No way would I EVER pay that much for a room.

FOS - I'd not thought of 'hemming' my stitching pieces using the sewing machine, what a fab idea. I normally go with the pinking shears option.

re: Christmas cards - all the ones for my mum and dads families get posted in 1 parcel and I let them distribute them as they all live closer and will 99% of the time see them (if not my mum puts a stamp on lol).
Hubby's family we do the same.
I will send my best friends one in with the parcel of her bloys pressies.
+ send maybe 2 others to friends.

At work we all send an e-mail around/ online christmas card or something. then we have a pot in the kitchen and you put a donation in that and we donate it to a local charity - normally the local cancer/ end of life hospital.

Elle1267 - I think it depends how much of the thread you need. If you know you'll need more then 1 skein then buy more and keep 1 in each, if you're only stitching a handful of stitches on each then have 1 and just 'borrow' between kits.

JCS1 - I can see what you mean - the flower lady is lovely but not something I'd want to stitch either. I don't really do 'lady' designs.

2013 stitching - not sure yet - might have to make a list......
loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:

It was mortifying :( I somehow knew I wouldn't get away with it but I didn't expect it to be so obvious (to them) and for them to know exactly where the hair was missing from..... and no I won't be doing it again ! :rotfl:

I've tried to think whether I (if i had that kind of money) I would pay that much. I suppose I would if that was the lifestyle I was used to but if I suddently came into millions, would I do it then ? probably not. Was superscripers good ?? I find it a bit annoying sometimes.

oh and as for 2013 project.... not sure but do intend to stick with projects until they are finished :)
  • I think superscrimpers was more laughable. A duchess who scrmips every penny (yet owns £250 clothes) and the lead singer of 'Black Lace' who has fallen on hard times and has to cut back his £600 christmas day budget!!!

I don't know why I find the show annoying because sometimes you can pick up useful tips.

I do find the this family spent x much on x quite frightening. and it always pales into significant what I spend. (most of the time anyway! :rotfl:) One week, I recognised the lady featured - didn't know she was going to be on the show but then I didn't really know her like that and only met her a couple of times. that week it was quite funny because they gave her a budget and she spent more ! it was the week when the family spent thousands on their garden. I think it would be quite funny to go on there with all my craft stash :D:rotfl:

so tomorrow - what do I do ???

Do I go shopping again?? and pop to a$da to get another one of their lovely pizzas (a bit of a trek - 2 buses... each way) but have a £5 off £40 spend voucher so if got most of weekly shop (that would need to carry on bus....) would save having a home shop this week.

or do I have a day crafting, writing xmas cards and wrapping presents and when I do get round to wrapping presents, what film should I stick on ??
  • i've not seen many of them. She taught you how to make crackers from crepe paper - didn't even put a banger in them.............it would be cheaper to buy a box of em from poundland!!!

stay in - think of the money you'll save. plus the roads etc are supposed to be terrible I am sooo not looking forward to going to work - almost went over 5 times on black ice on the 5min walk to tram stop this morning.
