re: stamps - you probably know this but:

superdrug and whsmith have 5% off books of stamps (woop you save about 20p a book).

if you are on certain benefits you can get them for 46p a stamp (save 14p) 1st class and 36p (save 14p) for 2nd class.

I never post christmas cards now - feel really bad about this but I can't afford it - made it even sadder as an old friend who I only hear from at christmas - don't have her number - we met on a cruise many moons ago - says she won't be sending anymore either - felt bad as i haven't sent any to her last year. My list used to have over 100 then when my late husband died managed to get it down to 80 - so I just quit - does that make me a bad person - about 50 off them are online - facebook/email so I say christmas greetings there.

On to say thank you to Flower Of Scotland for her cards - its is very beautiful - makes my card seem so insignificant now.

Also I have signed up to do some stitching for the AOY group of facebook. It is for a charity quilt. Just need to order some threads for it.

Well submitted my first order with Avon - think I made £10 - only got 5 orders :(

Purplework has taken a back seat - but will get more done soon and finish it up for 12.12.12

    Keep well everyone

Sweetcarer-of course that doesn't make you a bad person! Postage is getting very expensive and that's A LOT of cards to post. Between myself & DH we only post about 20. I try and hand deliver as many of my side as I can. Even if they get them at the start of December. Last year I did some as ecards, which I see nothing wrong with. Especially those who live in America.

Just back from meeting my friend. Am knackered now! She dragged me round town with her, trying to find Christmas presents for her hubby who doesn't 'do' Christmas. Glad to be home in the warm.

FlowersofScotland - thank you for your advice. :j I'm going to embarck on my first really big project and was thinking if I should put a hem on the fabric. I think I will now. I don't have a sewing machine, so will be a nice relaxing long evening doing that in front of the telly.

Thank you too blue-eyed-girl! I think I might be too heavy handed making things fray!

*Louise* - thats a lovely piece to be proud of. I'm sure your mum will love it and the sentiment is beautiful.

couldsavemore - I haven't done much stitching. Mainly smaller projects. I fell in love with a Heaven and Earth design (they are relatively large, but I got a smaller version they had) so going to start that after Christmas. Thats exactly what I do, if I'm tired I don't stitch as always miscount and make mistakes! Sometimes I thread the needles ready for when I am awake...feels like I'm doing something! :rotfl:

    Just popped on before bed to say thank you to Flat_Eric for my card;

    thank-you-smiley-emoticon.gif

It's so cute, I love it! My first card too :j (fingers crossed yours arrives tomorrow :) )

sweetcarer - I don't send many cards either as it is so expensive now, maybe about 10 in total, the rest I hand deliver!

Louise - love the 'When I Need You', especially the border :)

Shopping was OK, got a couple of bits I needed but felt I was rushing so couldn't 'browse'. Will probably need to go again, might just go tomorrow and get it over with :rotfl:

Off to bed then, night all xx

  • morning all

feel better now after a good nights sleep. plan to go for a walk and then do some stitching for a couple of hours before going to work.

stitcher good idea about just doing needles ready for next time. if i make too many mistakes I give up on the project which is why I wont do it when Im really tired

Ive seen on here some people have their fabric markrd out in squares looks like it could make larger projects easier how do you do this, what do you use,?

Its pouring with rain here at mo, was sleet when I got up earlier may put walk on hold:rotfl:

couldsavemore You can buy special pens to mark your material but I think you will find we are divided on here over whether they are a good idea or not? I know Louise very recently had trouble getting the pen marks to disappear but hadn't had any problems with the same pen in the past so I guess you have to be careful with them.

I personally would recommend this or indeed any other thread that you could use to tack your work.

You can also buy magic aida so its already marked up for you and you simply wash to remove when finished. I have the material but have not used it yet!

Here we go, 'When I need you' all washed and ironed ready for te framers next week with my other piece (or two, if I can get it done)

I have to say - there was eraseable pen on this, as I marked it before the '12 Days' disaster, and it has came out without any problems....I can only surmise that using the washing powder caused it to 'set' last time (lesson learned)

Just wanted to let you all know I am still here. My baby hasn't been well. He had a really bad ear infection last week and they gave him a strong antibiotic. We had to take him to hospital last night as he came out in a severe rash. It wasn't there at all at 4pm and looked like this at 6pm...

The doctors said that it is an allergic reaction to something and the only thing we can think of is the antibiotic. They said it is a severe burn and gave us a cream which they mixed just for us. It is so sore and angry looking, even his wee man looks like it is going to burst as it is so swollen.

As you can imagine everytime he pees or poos he screams the house down, so we have been busy with him and haven't had a chance to get on here as much.

I will hopefully get through all the posts tonight and work out who has received and who hasn't. Sorry for being missing...xx
