Couple of off topic questions.....
Anyone know the best place to get knee length (or higher) socks? Popped into m&$ on the way home but the knee high socks they had were £9.50 for two pairs  and the colour theme (most important) was very boring.
I got my niece a pack of two pairs of ski socks which are knee high and bright pink (other colours were available) in Sports Direct for £2.99....xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -

Morning all
Ruth Honey - I was going to place an order yesterday before I left for work but one of the items I wanted was out of stock and I was rushing to do it so thought I would place it instead over the weekend. When I saw that the competition closed at 4pm, I was a bit. I do wish they did a loyalty scheme of sorts so that for every so much you spent, you got something back. I also remember a couple of orders I placed, they included a free gift - this was nice and I wish they did something similar again.
Brednall. Hugs for you today. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
In stitchy news, managed a little bit last night - doing a few test squares for the dmc complete colour swatch.....
will post pic later.
was so tired last night was very grumpy! bed was the only answer. Didn't sleep particularly great and woke early this morning so I guess more time for stitching today!!
Have a lovely day all :j0 -
I keep thinking about the dmc colours. They would look great on a craft room wall, now if only I had a craft room, wonder if hubby would mind me turning our bedroom in to a craft room, we could sleep on the sofas lol!
Thinking of you today Brednall and your mum and sister
I joined sew & so newsletter but don't think I have ever received an email of them has anyone else?13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -

I joined the subscription list for their newsletter but haven't yet received any e-mail/newsletter which I thought was a bit strange? Its good they are on facebook and I like to see the pics of their new products although it does inevitably lead to temptation....0 -
Hi ladies.
Ruth. Hope you are feeling better today and hope your burn hasn't blistered, ouch!!
I love the Argos adverts with the blue alien family! When watching recordings I usually fast forward the ads but when I see an Argos one I have to watch it.
Bossy. Cute mini stitch!
Skoobie. Very nice finishes. I particularly like your Nieces name one.
Ouch for the dentist visit. I too have a phobia but it was made easier by finding a local dentist that could give me a sedative injection. Sadly he has now passed away so I haven't been to the dentist in years.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

It's not even red, so getting the cold flannel on it quickly obviously helped. Stupid me, though. Will put cold water in with it next time, so it's not as hot.
I hated going to the dentist too, and there was a huge gap between leaving school & my next dentist trip. 10 years, maybe. Now I've found a good dentist & get regular check ups & see the hygienist every 4 months.
Just been on the wii fit & I'm happy that I've not gained any weight. As I've been not exercising for a while, I thought I might have gained a few lbs. Now I can stitch all day and not feel guilty. :T
I signed up for the Sew & So newsletter. Got the email with the 5% off code (newsletter) but nothing since. I wish they'd make their wish list emailable(???) too. Then we could all get exactly what we want for Christmas & birthdays.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Oh ok
I got married on 03/05/07. And apologies, morbid alert, my husband died last year on 20/11/2011.
Can't believe it's nearly a year.
SORRY! X (hope I haven't put a downer on the thread)
I am so sorry to read this - I lost my first husband a young age too. We didn't have kids and my support network wasn't that great. The biggest shocker I got was when I went to the benefits adviser to find out what next he told me I wasn't a widow, as I was under 45 and no kids. I nearly married 11 years and they tell me that. The cafe here are great they have helped me in some of my low points. My "new" husband is great too he has helped me so much.I do this! Drives my OH mad as I take over the bed with all my stuff
I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself, have had some sort of virus for a couple of days and then a really bad toothache. So today I had to go to the dentist and ended up having a root canalI am a bit proud of myself cause I have a terrible phobia of dentists and needles and I managed to let him do what was needed. I am still a bit sore though, feel like I've been punched in the face and then stabbed with a load of pins, yuck! That's what happens when you don't go to the dentist for 16 years! And I got to pay 200 pounds for the privelege :rotfl:
I have all my stuff on one side of the sofa - hubby don't mind as he knows my stitching helps me but Sam does as she can't find a seat so ends up sitting on it.
£200 for the dentist - yikes. I don't understand why we have to pay so much. Hopefully pain gets easier - make a wee cotton wool pad of whisky - thats what my da recommended for toothache. I have a terrible fear of dentist. When we were kids the local butcher became the local dentist and that put the fear of god into me. I just sit there and shake the whole time.
Well I am off to a bit more on purple work and out to shops later to see what bargains are about. Hubby is meeting a gaming pal. Watching House of Elliott - love that program when I was younger nice to see it on TV.
Keep well everyone, dry just now - will see what weather is forecast before I put a wash on.

Hugs to brednall for today and to sweetcarer for the reassuring words x (so sorry for both your losses)Bossymoo

Here are some test squares I have stitched.
IMG_2562 by Flat Eric on Flickr, on Flickr
I think I prefer 7 squares by 7 squares with the number of the thread below. the red square is dmc 817 - I added the 0 to see how it works stitching the number alongside the square of colour. The red square was also stitched using 3 strands of thread - not sure if I prefer the 3 strand effect or the 2 stand blue square?
Now I just need to decide what order I stitch them in!
The big square was based on the cross stitcher charts featured in Cross Stitcher mag earlier this year. It got boring stitching 20 x 20 so I kind of made it up as I went along. I think the 666 would have been better under the letters DMC - I should have stitched the red border one square down so that it fitted.0
